biggw, I like my Tracker. For the kind of fishing I do, it suits me real well, whether I'm in a small creek or a bigger lake.

Thought i would throw my non-boater opinion in. That was the first trip for me in that model Tracker and i was impressed. I had five rods on the back deck with me and i had plenty of room to fish. It didn't matter if i was standing or sitting. The stability was fine and the seats were comfortable, very nice boat. Beautiful UK Blue hull is easy on the eyes as well! I heard the Louisville red hulls were slow and fragile (just kidding!)

The Louisville Red hulls are quick out of the hole, but they tend to choke and sputter once you get them up on plane.

Hit Elkhorn Friday with JCB and his good friend, Dave. We waded and fished for about 2 hours or so. Had about 20 between us. We landed 3 or 4 in the 14-16" range. Shiners, tubes and rooster tails seemed to catch them best... Had a great time.

This cooler weather should really heat up the creek bite this month!

The topwater bite is here. Fish it now...no reason to wait.

Well, yes and no. Depends on where you go.

There are subtle time frame differences between forks of the creek, just like there are differences between areas on major impoundments.

The areas I most often fish haven't hit their peak bite, topwater or otherwise, yet. Will soon, though, and I can't wait.

However, 2 different creeks in the past 2 weeks actually 3 weeks have had awesome topwater action. Of course we are using Andrew's handmades. Maybe that's the difference, maybe not.
We're going to give another part of the creek a shot Saturday morning. Well see how much the water's cooled off and how the fish have moved around.

Andrew, Give me a yell....We're North Fork bound.

Buzz bait was the ticket last Saturday. Monday it was the topwater plug. Most of these creeks, they'll hit topwater from April thru October. Just gotta find what they want that day.

Billy, I'll give you a call later, or call me. I could be up for a wade.

I'm not so sure about that topwater bite. I spent two full days floating/fishing/paddling the Rockcastle river just 5 days ago and I couldn't get any action on topwater at all. The fish weren't aggressive at all. Almost all hits came right at the end of the retrieve as I would start to pull the bait from the water.

I can attest, and agree with Billy and Andrew, it's all in what you are throwing. Secret weapons help,LOL. Water in the creeks is definetely cooling off though. Billy and Andrew I'm working on a possible spot in Harrods creek that is suppose to be good??? I'll check it out and if it is, you guys have got to come down to my neck of the woods. :P
