Laurel lake Bite

I read I believe one of Dave Stewart post talking about how to do this. I never tried it but with the big schools of shad in the river section of Laurel right now it may be something a person needs to look at. More shad than I have ever seen at Laurel. Does this hurt the bite when so many schools of bait fish are there. Been on Cherokee, Cumberland, Green River and have never seen anything like the bait fish that is in Laurel right now.

I have noticed this too. I was there last wednesday just before you get to the 312 bridge. The shad were EVERYWHERE. Double fluke rig seems like a good bet. gonna give it a try on the tourny this saturday.

Better rig it with two swivels, not one, or you will be sorry. Thread one swivel on the main line and let it run free, then tie the other swivel to the end of the main line. Put the shorter leader on the free running swivel. If you tie both leader to one swivel...regular or three way you the leaders will continuously tangle.

I just watched the woo's clues dvd. Woo was using it and said it was very effective. He said rigging a larger baby bass color with a smaller shad is also very effective. I fish buddy tournaments and it seems to me if both people cast in the same area, it looks like it would double the chances also.

You answered my question before I typed it. I wondered how to keep the two leaders from twisting around each other.

Next time I'm out, I'm giving this a try. One thing I noticed though was the Woo's Clues... using two different sizes?? Will this make it look like a small bass might be after a shad, or will it just look like a couple of shad swimming together that are of different sizes?

What's the big advantage to the two sizes.... attract a smaller fish maybe?

Just curious as I'd like to give it a try.

I fully understand this rig and am excited to fish it. I'm getting ready to fish Lake El Salto in Mexico in a few weeks and want to try this rig. My concern is hooking up with a hawg on the upper leader rig. It seems like the direct pressure from the free running swivel up and down the line might cut the line, especially if you're fighting a double. Is this ever a problem? I plan to spool up with 20-25 pound Big Game line.
