Your probably right but when you have been paying 3.00 all stinking summer it sure seems cheap.

    New Oil Strike....

On tonight's news, CBS to boot... Katie was soooo cute, it was announced that a new, and very large oil reserve was just discovered in the gulf of Mexico. This could increase the USA's oil reserves by 50%.

But not to worry, they also said we would not see the prices at the pump drop due to this. Ernesto's threat sent the prices up, and now there's Florence. Although Florence is predicted to go up the Atlantic coast, or not even make land fall and move out to sea, just the possiblity of a threat can drive the prices up!!! Huh????

I don't think this was ever covered in any of my Econ. classes!!

    LOL

    Tight lines and God Bless

    RE: New Oil Strike....

It's called greed 101. Most likely the reason we are seeing a break in prices is because election season is around the corner. I don't care. Whatever it takes to bring reason back to the price at the pumps.

    RE: They're still not low

I still don't consider them low. They're just not as high as they were.

I honestly think it's all part of a larger plan by the oil companies. Prices were artificially inflated to get people accustomed to gas pushing $3 per gallon. They left them that way for awhile and collected record profits until public and governmental outcry became too loud.

At this point they slowly begin to lower prices back down, but still MUCH higher than they were.

Just two years ago gas was about $1.69 per gallon. Now they've got us thinking that $2.40 is a good price.

If people are thinking $2.40 is a good price, mission accomplished for them.

    RE: They're still not low

I totally agree with with you guys think think 2.39 is not cheap. 1.50 would be cheap. November is coming up, the war is going lousy, . They have to have something to campaign on this election. I guess they can create a few foiled terroists threats!! Anyway, 2.39 is better than 3.00 but it's by far not cheap. Like the one guy said, they get you conditioned to it. They have been doing that same thing for a couple years now. Raise it reall high for a couple months then lower it a tad and people say, "that's cheap". When are people going to finally have enough?
