    Boat price question?

    "Boat price too High ?"

I'm looking at a 1992 Stratos 285 Pro XL with a 1992 Johnson 150 this boat is in very good condition for its age actually it looks brand new it hasnt been in the water for 4 years its a single console has two lowrance depth on it, gel coat has no chips, seats and carpet like new it has been maintained by a stratos dealer,my question is he wants $8500.00 for it I think thats a little high for a 92 model i was thinking more like $6000.00 to $6500.00 what do yall think?

According to NADA your offer of 6000 to 6500 is closer to average retail...maybe even a little generous. If the boat has not been in the water for 4 years I am wondering what shape the motor is in...was it prepared for storage?

    RE: Boat price question?

Well, I bought a 1989 strat. 279 V with a 1992 Rude 150, that is emmaculate for 4700 and a good friend of mine just bought a 1990 285XL with a Rude 150 for less that I got mine for so I would say he is extremely high, that rig shouldnt book for more than about 4-4500K but the rule of thumb is take the NADA value then add about 1000 for market price, at least thats what I learned when boat shopping

    RE: Boat price question?

If it's too high, don't buy! From my past experience, this is the time of year when boats start flooding into the local papers and you can score some great deals on "End of Year Closeouts." If you're questioning the price, more than likely it's too high or you won't be happy in the long run. Hold out for the deal that you know is right with no questions asked!
