    Ky River Maps(Steele Branch Pool)

I'm having my biannual fishing outing(Rodeo) Oct5-8 at Stillwaters in Frankfort. The Elkhorn's running pretty low and some of the folks want to bring big boats and fish the river. I know the river has also been low.
I've been on the river a few times. I've only ran from the mouth of the Elkhorn to Steele Branch and that's it.

What I'm looking for is not fishing spots, just some sorta of guide on the river itself. Low spots...ect,ect. I want these folks to be safe and not run up on any unexpected harm.

I talked to someone last night in Backwaters that gave me some good tips, but I'm looking for any help.

If any one who runs the river is free that weekend and would like to come down and join us, we'll feed you good and give you some baits.

    Thanks,
    Billy

The Steele branch pool pretty safe to run, I only know of a couple of spots that you need to watch out for, at the mouth of Flat creek and Stoney creek, just get on the opposite side of the river and you're fine. Otherwise just run the middle and it is OK.

Generally the only places you have to watch out for as far as shallow water is the mouths of creeks. There are a few places with some wood or stumps but these are pretty close to the bank and you can easily see them.

I have ran this pool dam to dam in the last month. Once from Steele Branch to Frankfort dam and the other time from Steele Branch to Lockport Dam.

I'd like to meet up with you guys, I'll mark this on my calendar.

    Riverfisher,

Thanks for the info. I know I plan on taking one day to run as far down the river as 35mph in a Tracker will take me.

    Come on down!

Thanks for the info, I know that the river is subject to change with one good dose of rain....

I'll be at the campground starting on the 23rd. Plan on running it those 2 weekends before the gathering to try and get a feel myself.

Come on down and join us...

    Billy
