    things being stolen..

from what i hear everything is being targeted. If it has some value someone will take it,my mom works at the local sheriffs office and she said they are being flooded with calls, don't leave things in your boat or fish finder that can be easily took while parked somewhere.talked toa friend of mine at a pawn shop and he said since gas went people are trying to pawn anything to gat a few bucks, maybe the gas price drop may help.

    3 Air conditioners

I am a homebuilder here in Louisville and the rash of crimes has gotten worse. Three new air conditioners in one weekend walked off ($7,000.00) Roughed in electric was torn out of another for the stupid copper($1,500) I think i would be better off putting $500 on the front doors and letting the theives take it and leave everything else alone. P S. If I catch them with they will be dealt with by Mr. Smith & Wesson. Is it that hard for people to respect anothers things?

    RE: things being stolen..

Seem like folks don't need a reason to steal what you have anymore. A few years ago a good friend of mine that I was fishing with got his truck stlolen while we were at Laurel in the middle of the day. I have had rods and reels stolen even a five gallon bucket of nuts and bolts that me and my brother in law had in the back of the truck. They were no good and from garage doors that we had put up or taken down. The guy that got his truck stolen has quit fishing Laurel now and I don't believe I could get him on it if I could gaurantee him a world record laremouth. What makes me mad is that fisherman spend lots of money on licences and launch fees and even yearly passes and very few big lakes that I fish ever get watched. I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't care to pay a few dollars to launch the boat and park the vehicle so someone could get paid to sit in a booth and watch our belongings. At least put up a few lights where a person can see where he is going and get back to the vehicle .............if it's still there.

Theives are stealing air conditioners from homes to sell the copper inside the unit. Seems copper prices are sky high right now. Even heard reports of them being stolen from occupied homes while people are sleeping.

My home has been broken into three times in past years, stealing has increased greatly in past ten years. It is a sad time in our country to see this happening. It saddens me to see our country loose its moral fiber. I have learned at least one thing in my life. Material possessions only go so far and its the love for our citizens, neighbors and family that realy matters through God's grace. I am so thankful that I still have a conscience to what is right and wrong.

Guys i know this is flirting with being political but the problem is waaaay deeper than punks, losers and mental lightweights stealing from us. I feel it's the overall weakness of our government, local and national through the last few decades. They want to give these poor lost souls a second, third or forth chance once their caught. They want to understand why you and i have driven them to such dire straits. It's our fault that they didn't learn right from wrong, being responsible for their actions, showing respect, teaching their own kids the basics of being a good human being and working for a living. I want to say so much more (might have said to much already) but i know this isn't the right place for it. It's just disappointing to see it and read about it all the time.

I believe you hit the nail on the head DJD. And don't get me wrong I have no problem with giving people 2nd chances, everyone deserves a second chance. It's the ninth and tenth and so on that I have a problem with. When good honest folks work their rear ends off to get what little they do have and someone comes in and just takes it all away just because they are afraid that they are going to have to put forth a little effort to get what they want or do it just cause they want to cause some trouble. If someone needs something so bad ask me and if I can loan it to you I will, got no problem with that but just take something from someone because you don't want to earn it then I am going to have issues with the situation. Stiffer penalties would go along way with solving the problems.I have seen folks get more for a lot less crime.

DJD is correct, this probably isn't the place to be posting this sort of thing. On the other hand I truly appreciate the information that comes across this site in regards to theft at various ramps, etc...The times are tough, it's harder to make a decent living now than it ever has been, I realize this doesn't make excuses for anyone's actions but it's the truth...I don't expect it's going to get any better either...we can hope that it does but I suspect that over the course of time things will get worse before they get better.

Thanks to everyone on this site for keeping us informed of the latest happenings around Kentucky whether they be good or bad.

I agree with you 100%. I hope I don't get this thread locked (if I do than I apologies to all in advance) but I arrested a guy last night for robbery 1 and he just got off probation for rape in July. He committed the offense less than 2 months after comming off paper. With the jails full people are released before we are done with the paperwork. I just hope the politics change here in Louisville.

My wife works at a law office in downtown Lexington that's a really old building...somebody stole all of the DOWNSPOUTS because they were made of copper. Ridiculous.
