prop demo's?

does anyone know of a dealer that will let you demo a props? i tried to find someone with my last boat with no luck at all so maybe you guys know of someone.

Good luck david, best thing is to get afew guys who have boats that will let you swap out theirs for a few runs,be sure to use box props and not reworked so you don't get good results testing then it aint worth a hoot when you buy one.What kind of boat did you end up with?

hey keith, thanks for the help lol. i bought a 95 stratos 201 pro yesterday. it has to much prop on it so it's time to start playing lol.

Rick Bailey at Baileys marine will let you demo used props. He has a pretty good assortment. I don't know if he demos new props or not.

Tell us what your set up is now and maybe someone can point you in the right direction.

My buddy used to have a 201 with a Evinrude 200, 8 inch jack-plate and he ran a renegade 25. I'm pretty sure a 26 raker will work with this set-up as well.

it has a 200 evinrude, 6" t & h pro-hi jacker. he had it set at 6" below the pad and it would do 63 @ 5500 with a 26 raker. i'm pretty sure i need to go down in prop if i stay with a raker. a buddy has a 25 renegade 4 blade i'm going to try out next weekend and just see how it does. i moved it up 1 1/4 inches and was going to try it out today but the storms hit about 5 miles from nolin. then i shredded a tire on the way home lol. so looks like i won't get to play until next weekend.

I would stick with the raker and raise the motor, the older model strats run the best right around 3" below pad

the guys on bassboat central are telling me to prop down. just posted that. they are saying my rpms will get to high if i get that high with that prop. might have to get down to 24 raker but yeah i think i want to stay with the raker. i have plenty of time to play with it and find the sweet spot though.

If you are turing 5500 RPM's with a 26 Raker---then you're RPM's will be even higher with a 24. To me, from my past OMC's, the Raker is the prop you want---has the best top end and lift for sure. The Renegade may give you a little better holeshot and less torque steer, but the Raker will be the fastest. Not real sure where you're Redline RPM's are for a 200 OMC of that year. Also, I sure hope it has a water pressure guage----watch it carefully when you start jacking it up. Good Luck with your boat.

the renegade will work well but the raker is the ticket on these xl models,i tried everything on my 295 and the raker was always tops,drop down to the 24,load the boat,raise the motor on the jackplate until it blows out to about 3500-4000 on wide open take off then drop it slightly until it blows a little,if it don't blow out a littlle it will probably bog down,turn it around 5700 rpm lightly loaded and you should be high 60's,remember it is a little underpowered so load it light in the frontwatch water pressure,when the setup is right with the raker at about 1\2 throttle stab the gas and as you trim up you will feel it jump on the pad,if the front drops and doesn't respond quick to the trim,drop the jack plate a little more.best way to test yourself is with a gps and set up marker buoys and run time trials and write down each setting and performance.
it worked for mine and it's the same hull just a tad shorter.of course with most of the carpet gone i figure that picked up me up a couple mph's.
