    How much?

A friend of mine who has more tackle than Bass Pro Shop is getting rid of some of his fishing equipment because he no longer tournament fishes and rarely gets out fishing at all. I was just wondering what percentage of retail value would be fair. Most of the lures and such are in fair to good shape with some excellent (like me, his Lucky Crafts and Don Iovino lures just don't get used a lot). Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, CJ.

    RE: How much?

Here is one good piece of advice. If you want top dollar for old baits keep the boxes that the baits came in. Collectors want to the baits in the boxes and will pay more money for them that way.

I wish I knew more about the value of older fishing lures. Some collectors will pay a lot for a particular lure that fills out their collection.

Thanks, but these are mostly newer baits. Just looking for any idea of what to give him for the whole lot of them. It's mostly cranks, spinners, and jigs with some plastics and a big Tackle Logic bag and a small Shimano bag.

From what you have said, I would make him an offer of $256.00 and see what he says.

    Personally, I think....

Personally, I think you should consider us poor out of work souls and let us have the first shot at all the good stuff!!!

    LOL

How good of friends are you guys? This makes a difference. Here's why.... from a seller's perspective, the best price is the most you can get, from a buyer's perspective it is just the opposite, it is the least you can spend. There are several rules of negotiation that could help you out, but not sure you want to play hard ball.

So consider this one rule of thumb.... the best price is the one that both you and the seller think you got a good deal. You'll have to do some basic math on the cost of the lures if they were new, and then consider just how "used" they are. Figure in a fair discount and make the deal.

I wish you luck. It is sometimes hard to have any type of business dealings with a friend and remain that way.

Tell him to put it all on eBay...then you can give him a fair price based on a bunch of other buyers opinions...(myself included ;-) )
