fall fishing and Barkley, sigh...... I love it sooo much.
Thanks to everyone that pitched in a little help on Barkley. My partner and I came in 8th and did at least money that paid for our trip.
Dave if I fish this next year I will get with you and prep for the tourney. I know next year it will be on Kentucky instead of Barkley.
I will say this after fishing from 6AM - 3PM lake time Saturday I may think about becoming a PROFESSIONAL BULL RIDER. If I can stay on that seat on the front of my boat in those waves i can stay on anything.
Thanks again for all of the help.
Masbass, I know what your talking about, I rode those rollers also. Sunday was not much better. I was with Dave last Saturday, and he has the pattern down. I used the patterns and spots Dave showed me and was very sucessful on Sunday. Had many shorts, but 3 keepers. One smallomuth and two largemouths. Dave you are the man. I will be booking a trip for the spring.:)
We had planned on geting with Dave all spring and early summer to schedule the day before the tourney, but thingscame up where i did not even know if i was to be able to fish the tourney until a few days before.
The guys I fished with love Barkley and Kentucky. A week ago saturday, in a two day tourney, was the first time I had ever even seen the lake. When they ask how I did like Barkley my exact words were "I would rather fish Green" which most of them call the Dead Sea, but I like Green myself. As of right now I do not care much for the lake, okay hold on a second people, I have not been able to fish it enough to adjust to the differences in lake. The points that I like the looks of may only have 2' of water or less on them. The difference between Barkely and the lakes I fish most of the time are so different I struggled badly.
I will get Dave a day or two next time so I can understand the lake and the way fish behave better. Then maybe I will whoop up on some boys!! Doubt it but was fun to think about and say anyway.
Thanks for the kind words Ben. I know the fishing had to be a little tough out there this weekend after all the wind and rain. Looking forward to spending a day with you next spring.
Mark: You sound like a person that would fit right in on one of my "lake familiarization" trips. Be happy to take you out whenever you can get the chance and I am available.
