Linda,
You better get Donnie to recheck his dates. According to the KBF website, they are hosting a Regional Qualifier out of Carrolton on June 10th. So, I wouldn't hardly think the first dates you had would be a problem.
I think it is great that you are trying so hard to work with the KBF. But honestly, if you think about it... you're the best bet for the KBF fishermen to win big bucks.
I think you should be commended for your efforts, but you should consider that you ... yep YOU are the biggest game in town.
People will work around you. Think about it, $50 grand or a qualifier??? I'd go for the $50 grand, and since most of the "money" fishermen call themselves "money" fishermen, you can bet they too will choose you.
I really wish you guys a lot of luck next year. I hope that some way I can fish next year. What a shot!
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny
Danny,
Donnie Keeton(pres. of KBF) helped this year with the weigh-ins and with the tournament overall. I believe that is why she is working around the KBF's schedule. But, you are right----when scheduling something like this, set a date and don't worry about what else is going on. It's almost impossible not to land on another tournament.
I agree, what's a handful of anglers who are fishing a qualifier for something bigger down the road for themselves...Keep it the fist week of June like you stated before...Believe me if these guys have to miss a qualifier they will for the possibility of winning $ 50,000.00 bucks....It's a no brainer...you won't be able to please everyone...so pick a date and go for it.....
Mark is right. Donnie Keeton was instrumental in the '06 tourney. He lined up 7 weighmasters to cover 5 locations for 3 days. That was huge for me. It is only right that we show our loyalty to the people who put their trust in us the first year. That goes for the anglers also.
Thanks, Danny, for the comment about us being the best game in town. That's what we want to be, but we want to work with the clubs and the anglers because we want this to be a win win for everyone! We're trying to set a date early so that the clubs that don't have a date can plan around it. We don't want to step on the ones who do have a date or overlap something that we shouldn't. Obviously, it's impossible to miss them all, but we're trying to do our best as to not upset the apple cart too much.
According to Donnie, the Redman Tournament Trail is at Cox's Park in Louisville the first weekend in June. I'm thinking it wouldn't be good to have both there at the same time. That's why we changed it. Any thoughts???

Yeah, that is the 2007 BFL All-American that is being held on the Ohio River.
I didn't even think about that. The KBF qualifier is the next weekend out of Carrolton. Linda---not sure on what would work for you. Like I posted earlier. Just pick a date and do it. Doesn't really matter what else is going on. But, I would stay away from the BFL All-American weekend. That would be kind of tough and not real fair for the people that like to fish in the Louisville pool.
Good Luck!
