The lake took a spike in elevation due to heavy rains, but not as excessive as it could have been I guess. Watch for floaters that lake gets some honkers at times after the frog stranglers we just had. Read the striper reports on this site to get you some ideas there. Look for bass, especially spots in the jumps early and late, specifically real early at daybreak. Some largemouth and smallmouth will be mixed in with them. Try throwing topwaters at them and try to stay back and make long casts if possible, they spook easy and will stop if you get to close. Most good fishing is still probably at night. If you do most of your fishing by day don't be afraid to go deep 20 to 30 feet deep. It's been my experience on the big C that they just aren't up good yet in Sept. Give it a month and look out it get's fun. Let your grandkids try for the catfish in the channels near a point or bluff wall. Hotdogs will catch them, all the houseboaters have the cats trained to eat hotdogs down there. Sounds crazy but it works. If all else fails try meal worms and crickets, experiment with your depths you fish and you'll surely get some gills or punkinseeds to bite. The Ohio navy is going home and if weather will cooperate with you the lake is beautiful this time of year. Have fun and be careful, Mark. :-)
