BASS will not use Citgo as a sponsor after this year

Due to the overwhelming response from fisherman, BASS will not use Citgo as a sponsor after the conclusion of this tournament year. They are currently looking for a major sponsor to replace Citgo. If you called to complain, call to say "thank you for listening" also.

Just curious, I can't find any article that says BASS is dumping CITGO. Can you point me in the right direction? thanks

One thing, I never heard about this whole discussion is the fact that BASS and ESPN were under contract with Citgo and COULD NOT just stop there sponsorship with Citgo. I am sure the decision was made quite some time ago not to renew Citgo's contract and sponsorship. This is the same reason why ESPN and BASS have not released official notice of this decision. Come on People use your heads and dont be so critical of every little detail. How many people would have jumped the NFL for the same situtation. I bet not many of you. Why are fisherman such whiners about everything that happens in our sport. And we wonder why no other companies want to sponser our sport??? HMMMMMM?

Actually, there has been a large protest in professional baseball over the Citgo sign in one of the ballparks. I have no idea which park it is but after this season it will be replaced because of fan reactions to that sign.

I'm pretty sure I heard Citgo was not going to be a sponsor next year several months ago. Other than that Triton99, I agree 100% with your comments on this subject. I personally have not bought gas there since the BASS/Federation debacle. In Alabama last weekend I paid over 204.9 a gallon at a station down the road from a Citgo who had it for 199.9. My own personal little boycott that means nothing to anyone but me.

Senko, and others, IMO this is important enough to whine about. A Fidel Castro wannabe with most of his people living in poverty calling our president names should make most of us hot whether or not we agree with his leadership. Danny Glover's a slobbering idiot trying to be relevant, and like most of Hollywood not worth worrying about.

What's even more disturbing is a scenario where there's a whole bunch of Cubas in Latin and South America.

agreement to end the CITGO sponsorship after this season based on
CITGO's decision to move in a different direction. We are in discussions
with a number of potential new sponsors.
