When does the Cumberland Jumps begin

The jumps happen when they happen. It really cant be predicted. Can occur anytime between now and the end of December. If I had to pin down a date, I would shoot for the third week of Oct. But, there's no guarantees, ya just gotta put in time on the water.:D

Slivers are just a long jointed stickbait made by rapala. Run anywhere from 7 inches and up. You can get them at almost any Wal-Mart close to cumberland or any local tackle shop. Run about 7.00 dollars a piece and up. Just let them sink to the desired depth and crank slow. Really awsome bait in the spring when the striper action gets hot. I use alot of the silver colored and the red and white. I know how your feeling. I,m really JACKED UP and can't wait to get there.

Tracker Deep V17 with 90 Mercury. Be fishing by myself first couple of days, then with my Dad the next couple and best friend the last couple. I will be fishing mainly between Harmon and Difficulty all the way to the Dam for Stripers on the main lake to just up inside the major creeks. Look for the baitfish on your depth finder, watch the birds, and especially look for the boiling water with fish busting shad. Take a good pair of Binoculars (sp) to help. My Smallie spots are all from Jamestown to the Dam. I will be putting in at the Dam or Pumpkin Creek depending on where the best bite comes from. Good Luck and be safe, maybe I will see you there.

We will be in a red 17 ft nitro with 90hp engine. I'll be the intelligent looking bald guy with my little chubby buddy in front of the boat.Him and his wife are expecting their first child soon so I got to get him on some fish to calm his nerves a little. You know how them first time fathers are. LMAO Sorry hughes ,couldn't resist. It always seems to be an adventure when we get out. Just hoping the fish cooporate. I just got back from Cumberland and the lake is turning over for sure in most spots. Over by Grider around Westfork and Middlefork creeks at night with little wind the lake was nasty on the surface. Worst scum line I've ever had on my boat from Cumberland. Fishing was absolutely dead. I saw ZERO jumps and I was out from 7:30 a.m. Saturday till 1:00 o'clock. Saturday night from 3:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning. I was in Indian creek, all over it, Westfork, Whipperwill, Middlefork, Beaver, and all over the main lake in between. I caught fifteen Sat. morning, mostly dinks with one good Kentuck 16 inches and fat and that was it. Eight hours of fishing second day yeilded a whopping 2- 13 inch spots, and that was it. Water is turning and it's still waaaay to warm, mid 70,s. I'd give it awhile fellas just yet the lake is dead right now. I talked to several other boats and nobody was catching dudley quat. It's been a long time since I've had my boody spanked down there that hard, it almost hurt my feelings. :-(

Hey it's about time you got back. Andrew normally I would agree about lake turnover down there in Mid to even late November. Also I'm for sure no expert on lake turn over either, but I honestly think parts of the lake are turning over down there right now. They are also pulling the bottom off of that rascal too. Sometimes to the tune of 4 to 5 inches a day. I could be wrong as I am a lot, just ask my wife, but I honestly think it's turning in spots, talked to some others down there that thought so as well including one striper guide. Take care maybe we need to hit the creek, see ya Mark. :)

Was off work yesterday for Columbus Day, so I drove down to fish with my uncle. We launched from Cumberland Point, and while the day was slow, I ended up with several spots and a nice 4lb smallmouth. All caught in Faubush Creek on sammy and 4" finese worm. Didn't see very many jumps, but spots would come up on the sammy. Best five would have gone about 10 3/4 lbs (had a nice 2.75 spot). First time back to Cumberland since fishing FLW series tournament. Hope to make it back down next week (comp leave) for another day of fishing the Big C.

I'd like to catch a striper on the surface. I'm not real familar with the lower end of lake (just from riding w/ the FLW pros). Where should I launch my boat?

"Get him on fish to calm his nerves", you better take him Bluegill fishing for when you see the water the size of half a football field boiling with 10-15 pounders busting shad and you don't have a clue as to how long they will be up or where they will go next is not "Calm" at all. The trolling motor can't move fast enough or quiet enough and imperatively you will put a little extra mustard on the Hotdog to get that first LONG cast to the edge and "Backlash USA has another member to the club". Then try picking out a backlash with fish busting all around you, Calm???? Most nerve racking event you will ever have in your life (maybe not the Most but pretty close) If you are a rookie and you can make that first cast with a wide spooled baitcaster into the boiling water and "NOT" get a "Professional Over-Ride" you are better than me. Already have my Dad a big Spinning outfit rigged up for I know his nerves can't take the action. Not so sure mine will but will give it a try.
