Trolling Motor Question

I have a Minn Kota 55 lb (12 volt) motor and I need to know what size fuse I should be using on this motor. Had a 15 amp and kept blowing. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have the same Minn Kota trolling motor and have the same problem sometimes. My fuse link is 30 amp and if I run the trolling motor hard it will blow every time. I just carry some extra fuses. The 30 amp fuse link was on my old OMC trolling motor when I bought this boat.

Are you using the recommended wire gauge? Just curious...

I actually went up one size larger on my wiring. The fuse is a 30 amp and not a 15 amp.

Thats odd..Have you contacted Minn Kota? Maybe it's rated for a slow blow fuse? My 37lb minny works fine even when i have had to plow through the weeds on Stoner which would be the perfect time to blow a fuse from the heat and current draw.

Replace the fuse with a breaker. My TM system has little circuit breakers with a push button reset. With them you'd just reset the button and off you'd go. Mine are 60 amps I think, but I'm sure you could get 30 amp ones.
