Ok, I had a few hours to kill so I took my youngest son out fishin for awhile...Me I never turn down the chance to go if I can get away. We went uo to the creek just past the dam on the right hand side. Started out crappie fishin...The crappie were holdin real cloce to the cover, stickups. If you were more than 2 to 3 inchs away from the stumps or stickups no action at all. All fish were caught right next to cover, caught fish on chartruse grub with red fan tail. Tried other types of colors, but nothing else worked.... Then my son fell asleep in the bottom of the boat listening to Bob & Tom on the radio... I started Bass fishing...Only caught small ones...They hit a shad rap crank bait...Again the fish were right up real tight to the stickups...If your bait didn't come real close to the cover they wouldn't hit it. I tried everything in the boat. but no takers next to the bank at all... The lake is still up about 6 feet or more above summer pool. Water color is highly stained, but shouldn't keep the fish from biting. Water temp was 68.4 to 69.7...Alot of schooling shad back in every creek I went into, early in the am, alot of big fish action on top, don't know what they were but they were big...... Also the lake has alot of floating trash in it right now, the best way to get out of Settler's Trace Ramp area was to stay to the right side as far as possible to avoid the trash, then follow the line of bubbles down the lake or wherever you were going....
