    Lake Cumberland Dam Ramp

Anyone know if the ramp at the dam at Lake Cumberland is still in operation or not? Brother in Law going down Saturday and would like to know. I will be down next Monday for 7 days and may use it as well if it is still in service. Thanks in advance.

It was open last Friday, and the water level is still high enough to use all the lanes, but the parking area is about 2/3 the size it used to be.

Thanks, plan on using either it or Pumpkin Creek MANY times starting Monday for 7 days.

Now if everyone would go ahead and send me all of their HONEY holes for Smallies, guaranteed morning topwater spots for Stripers, which creek and what depth to pull my shiners for Daytime Stripers, guaranteed evening topwater spots for Stripers and guaranteed night bite points and spots for Smallies, It will save me a bunch of time finding this out on my own and I can spend more time Catchin instead of Fishin. (Yes, I am also Laughing My A$$ off as well expecting this information to be given.)

Elnut report back how you did, I'm going down probably next weekend the 28th if things go right for me. I'm hearing the live bait guys are tearing up the bass on main lake points. I just don't have the patients to drag the live bait around, I've got to be chunkin and windin, to hyper I guess.

    RE: Motor issues

    Thanks for asking George,

I do believe that they are fixed (knock on wood) but it took many phone calls, griping and complaining and $400 out of pocket to get it done. The after market insurance that I bought from Tracker with the purchase of the boat did not and would not cover it. They said that the repair center did not find anything wrong therefore they would not cover it. For those that don't know, the motor would trim up on its own when it got wet and there was no way of stopping it short of disconnecting the battery cables. Of course Mercury said I could have taken off the cover and removed the power lead to the trim switch and I told them that if they can realize what is happening, get to the motor, remove the cover in the middle of the lake in the middle of the rainstorm, in the middle of the night, while it is trimming up on its own fast enough before it reaches the deck of the boat then they are way more better than me.

Mercury was not going to cover it since it was out of warranty but after about 5 phone calls continuing up the chain of command at Mercury (Directing them to read my initial post on Fishin.com and telling them that I planned on posting the same post every day for the rest of my life in hopes of steering just one person away from Mercury helped in the final decision) they agreed that they should be responsible. They ended up sending a new trim motor, trim switches, solenoids, valves, cylinders, .... to the repair center for free but I still had to pay the labor. It ended up costing me $400 out of pocket to fix something that has gone bad 3 times since I bought the boat new with the first 2 times within the first year I had the boat so there was a history of this problem on file with Mercury and Tracker. I have fished a couple of times in the rain and it has not done it again, but it happened 2 times in the first year then not again for a year and a half before the 3rd. Every time is rains I wonder if I will get stranded. The next time I am stranded due to this, the plan is to sink it all and swim for shore. Most likely, next week at Cumberland when it is a nice Balmy 45 degrees with a 35 degree drizzle coming down and I will be 5 miles from nowhere is when it will happen again.

    Thanks for asking

No offense to the Smallmouth population at Cumberland but if you are going to FNF, drive on another 40 miles or so and try for the Record at Dale Hollow. Hopefully, by then I will have caught the big girl the last week of November or even better Saturday December 1 on Day 1 of the Billy Westmoreland Invitational (That would be truly fitting), and you will be trying to eclipse MY WORLD RECORD. Good Luck

    Hey Elwood
Funny that was brought up...not that it happened.A buddy of mine has almost the same problem with his 2 yr.old merc 135....except not when it rains but when its freezing cold out.It just starts trimming up all by itself but after a couple of minutes of some choice words and trimming it back down it seems to be ok.Guess maybe you just did'nt cuss it enough :7. I'll be at C-land Fri. the 27th,going out of Jamestown. 20" maroon/silver?? Astro 200 Merc, struggling w/2 Fat^&*&$es in it.Hope to see you on the water.
Look out you smallies Daddys comin to visit!!!!!!!!!!!
