C- Rig Rod and Reel?

Sorry,I don't have the model number with me. The thing is light but stiff as a piece of rebar. It's also the most rugged rod I've ever owned, I've put it thru heck over the last few years, and it's never let me down.

I disagree with Danny that the rod's not important. I like low stretch line and a heavy/fast action rod. C-Rig casts are usually very long and a lot of line is out there when the bait hits. When she picks it up way the heck out there, I want to be able to sock that jaw. I don't worry that much about playing the fish, I'm usually using heavy stuff, and I can always slow down some to let her wear out if she's one a them ole good uns.

For carolina rigging I don't think the rod is nearly as important as the line. I don't even know what rod I have on my CR outfit. I have a Citica 5.1:1 reel. I use Spiderwire, and 17 lb. mono leader. I figure the weight is on the spiderwire, so I get a very good feel for the bottom, and what is down there. The mono gives me some stretch in my line to have some give in the fighting with the fish.

One thing you have to consider is that with a CR you normally have a lot of line out. Therefore, you need to be able to set the hook, and if you use mono line you have all that stretch built in. I also believe you need a rod with a good backbone, but a flexible tip. My rod is 6'6" as opposed to 7', but that's because of my height.

Some will tell you that you need to make sure your rod is sensitive, but if you have spiderwire on, and you keep your index finger on the line, and fish slowly, you will feel everything. Just make sure you move your finger off the line before you set the hook. It will cut your finger.

7' All Star C-rigging rod matched with a BPS Rick Clunn reel. The rod is the best c-rig rod i've used. The reel is crap. After owning 6 of them, I can say i'll never buy another BPS reel again.

The line is 17lb mono with 14lb florocarbon for a leader.

I use the 7' Extreme Rod (MH) and the Rick Clunn reel. I haven't had a minutes trouble with either. I also own several other BPS reels and have had no problems. If you do they will usually stand behind them 100%.I use 20 lb Flourocarbon main line and 12lb Flourocarbon leader.
