Maybe the others put me at the top of the list but I don't. I will share any information that I have learned thru my trials and tribulations. I assure you, there was many trips down to Dale and Cumberland from Frankfort Ky and back a couple of years ago and I got my butt handed to me on a silver platter. I know of one 3 day trip that I was skunked 1 day and only caught 5 small fish the other 2 days in total. I have certainly paid my dues to know what I know and will help all I can. One tip I will give is change your depth of your jig to suit the conditions. I start every time out at 10 foot deep, then if no action will move shallower if cloudy and overcast or deeper if bright and sunney. My scenario is 10' to 8' to 12' then to 14' if needed. Some times the fish will literally have their tails touching the bluffs or others they will be 10-15 feet off the bluff. Don't settle on one depth or one retrieve all day. Focus on what you are doing and when you get a strike try to imitate that very scenario again. Don't get the strike then wonder now what was I doing. My wife can't belive how intense and focused that I am on every cast. I may be looking around at the scenerary but I am thinkin of what my jig is doing and waiting for the pulldown. Some days it is the bluffs, some days it is the deep points, some it is the deep black shale points, some it is deep grass beds, learn whatever lake and try to get several different patterns then once you pattern them run that pattern all over the lake. Most likely you will scratch out a pretty good day. 1 - 5 pounder will make any day a really good one and for my money, Dale Hollow has more 5 pounders than any other lake around.
I will be fishing Dale on November 27, 28, 29, 30 and Dec 1, 2, and 3. The 27 and 28th I am fishing with someone but nobody on the 29th and 30th. My buddy is coming down to fish on the 1st and then we are fishing the Billy Westmoreland Classic on the 2nd and 3rd. I am staying at John Davis's cabin that will sleep 3 in beds and 1 more on the couch if anyone wants to come down on the 29th and 30th. My boat will fish 3 pretty comfortably in regards to FNF. I will being doing that the most but I will also try a new technique that I was told about that produces nothing but big fish. I have it on good authority, Steve Headrick, that it will catch the really big ones. The cabin is already paid for so if you want to chip in on it fine, if not, so be it for it is only money. I will put in at Holly Creek about 45 minutes before daylight and not come off the water until dark each day chasing the 12 pounder.

Anytime you like. I have 17 days to use by the end of the year and get 25 more on January 1. Whatever I don't use this year will carry over. I plan on spending the last week of Nov and then the week before Christmas with my buddy Cliff. It will be Jan and Feb for my next trips.
The Bass Pro FNF Rod link listed above are the rods that I use, very light, and very good action. On sale right now for 29 bucks, you can't go wrong.
Don
Might take you up on that, Elwood....We'll go down and bust into the big cabin...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is John and his buddies coming down those days?
Billy
I think John should be guiding pretty regularly by then and I will certainly pick his brain for some insight. He should have his second cabin completed by then and it is supposed to be bigger than the first one he built. I am staying in one of them that week for sure, I think it is the one he built last year. You are more than welcome to come down and fish the 29th and 30th. It would be good putting a face with a name. Hopefully, I will have a pretty good pattern to run and catch some good ones by then and maybe the "New" technique I am going to try will have put the World Record in the boat by then as well. By the way the "New" technique has absolutely nothing to do with FNF, standard 6 1/2 spinning rod with 6lb test will do the trick. If it works, I may let the cat out of the bag and if it does not then I will keep it my little secret.

I think I know what you're talking about. Especially if it's on a ballhead instead of a minnowhead.
The Laurel Lakers have been tooling around with something similar for a couple of yrs. Although the jig size(weight) may vary.
I think I stayed in that cabin last yr after you left.....
I need to talk to John anyway. I'll give him a yell.
Billy
hey, that is some of the best information on f-n-f method i have
ever heard or read about. moose, you did a good thing friend.
anytime you premote fishing and have good information from
experiance, well that is the best. i wish i could join you down
at dh, so i hope you have a great time and i do hope you land
one of those ole monster brown fish.
buddyp
Sorry, nothing to do with a ballhead or minnowhead. It is something that I never would have thought would catch a fish period, much less some Big Ole Brownfish. I am still not convinced it will work but the man said it would catch the big ones for sure. Hopefully it will for I would bet SEVERAL in the Billy tourney will be FNF, jigging and Silver Buddying for Brownies and this has nothing to do with that. Maybe something different will work, we will see.
Hey Billy I believe I know what your talking about and if so been doing it at Laurel for the past 4 or five years and believe me when its on it is on. Caught and seen some big ol brownfish caught that way off them ol 6 1/2 rods and man is it a battle. Going with the f-n-f down at Laurel this year and try to learn that technique. Got some spots that it should really work well. Try the way your thinking and you will be suprised how well it does work.
Man........I think I'm going to keep the loomis FF rod I bought. It is a LOT of smack, but CRAP.......it is LIGHT.......And man, it really feels good.
First $200.00........this includes shipping takes it.......
But I really don't mind keeping it.

Hey Everyone,
I have made a video on the Float-N-Fly just for the fun of it with a new computer program I bought last year. I am in no way a Jim Duckworth, Stephen Headrich, or a Bob Coan. I have fished it now for 7 or 8 years and I have people asking me how to do this all the time. I will be glad to send anyone that wants one for no charge just because it is definately not profesionally done. For the ones that may want one don't laugh to hard when you watch it.
It may take me a few days to get them out to anyone that wants them because I have to burn them for you all.
