    taylorsville lake

i fished taylorsville for the first time sat morn. i have heard that this lake was awful but some freinds told me that was garbage so i gave it a shot sat morn and WOW!!! my five best fish would weighed in around 20 lbs maybe better. caught a 6-3 on the 4th cast and follwed it up with 2-4plus the next 4 hrs total of 16 bass all over 16" but 2 one was 12" and another one around 8". the bite shut off around 1:30. now is this lake just good in the fall and spring when the wave pounders are missing?? my freinds were there 2 weeks ago and caught several 2-3 lbers so what am i missing or was this just " one of those days"? sorry i can't help with lake conditions since i've never been there but the lake seemed pretty high stained water... 55.9 temp

    RE: taylorsville lake

thats T-ville, feast of famine. It can get really rough when the pleasure boaters hit though, I was down two weekends ago and had a good day but no 20 lbs, thats an AWESOME tville day. I like the lake, its got a great fish and shad population and tons of cover. For all that hate the lake, go right on down the road to another, Ill stay and love it...:-)

Hey Jaws was it a crank bait bite or what? What ramp did you use? If you don't mind me asking. }(

    RE: taylorsville lake

i will take it you fish it alot.. so why do people hate it?? is it the summer traffic, too many other bass boats? it was pretty rough sat but with 25 mph winds i expected that. it's a beautiful lake and you know it;s had to help barren, rough and nolin. i never go to a lake expecting to do what i did there but it sure is fun when it happens.i talked with a young guy probably 25yrs old and didn't catch anything he was throwing a white jig, i threw a 1 oz black jig. there were several boats at the ramp probably 25 or so, maybe more.

banditman, ididn't even take crankbaits with me but i did have 1 good bite while reeling the black jig in so i should be smacked i guess. put in at sttlers trace and went strait for maybe 3 miles then put the t motor down on the backside halfway out of the wind. fished close to 2 guys in a bullet boat but didn;t get to talk with them.. couldn;t hear them anyway with the wind and waves!!!

    RE: taylorsville lake

I dont fish it as much as I like. I think people get frustrated on Tville since during peak season there is a tourney there about every day of the week. Id say the wind was brutal sat, I wasnt able to get out. Not sure if you fish tourneys but if you do you should come join us next saturday out of van buren, its an ABA tourney. With that kind of wieght you would clean us all out. Come on out, if you want to check it out you can go to www.americanbassanglers.com District 87

    RE: taylorsville lake

WELL I FISHED TODAY FROM 8AM TO 6PM AND ONLY CAUGHT TWO KEPPER AND FOUR SMALL ONES.WATER TEMP WAS 52 TO 55 IN SOME AREAS, A LOT OF DEBREE AND FOUR FEET HIGH. PUT IN AT POSSUM RIDGE AND FISHED FROM THERE TO ABOUT HALF WAY BACK INTO JACKS CREEK. ALL FISH WERE CAUGHT ON A PEARL BOMBER MODEL A IN FOUR TWO ABOUT 81/2 FEET ON POINTS AND WOODY AREAS. SAW SOME BASS CHASING MINNOWS IN THE BACK OF A COVE BUT WHEN I GOT UP ON THEM THEY SEEM TO HAVE DISSAPEARED.WORKED THAT AREA ANYHOW INCASE THEY WERE WORKING UNDER THE SURFACE. ALL IN ALL IT WAS A DECENT DAY. 20 POUNDS IS A NICE BAG FOR THE LAKE AND IT IS A GOOD LAKE TO FISH. A LITTLE FRUSTRATION FROM PLEASURE BOATERS IN THE SUMMER BUT THE TOURNEY FISHERMEN DONT REALLY BOTHER ME THAT MUCH. IF I COULD CATCH A 20 POUND BAG I WOULD EVEN FISH THE TOURNEYS.g/l and dont give uo on that lake its a nice lake to fish

    RE: taylorsville lake

I fished it in the rain last Friday..Main lake near the ****..caught 2 12" but very fat largemouths and 1 decent hybrid. I fish Taylorsville quite a bit mostly on the weekdays and it is hit or miss.Usally a bunch of short fish mixed in with 1 or 2 nice ones

John , just to let you know you had an unbelievable day at taylorsville. To catch that many keepers is pretty much unheard of at any time of the year on this lake. If you could do that with any kind of consistancy at T-ville you could fish tourneys full time and make a good living. The 1 ounce jig sounds very unique, the fish probably dont see that much, thanks for sharing your story. Jarrod
