Hard to tell from Dale because the are such footballs. I have caught fish that are pushing 5 and were only 19 inches long. I had a 6-4 last December that BARELY went over the 21" slot. My guess is a 7 pounder would be a 22-23 inch football. Either way, a 7 pounder is a nice fish and there are several in Dale to be had for I am hoping to get my share in a couple of weeks.
I'm only guessing but 23"-24" and I doubt you could tell from a picture. The smallies at Dale are so broad and fat anything possible.
There are pictures of a 4.6 pounder and video of me taking it out of the water on the Article I wrote. The Dale Hollow fish look HUGE.
I thought the 4.6 was at least 6 pounds and was way off. Dale fish have BIG Shoulders and are FAT.
Here is the link to the article and pics of my 4.6

Definitely not the usual fish, and they look bigger than they are.
Would have to see a scale weight to believe any more stories on Dale.
WAS SURE that fish in the video was a 6 pounder. HECK look at my face... I was so proud of that fish I had a hard time doing the video for Bob.

If a scale, or de-liar isn't available. Tell them next time to use this formula. Length x Length x Girth divided by 1200.
well I caught a smallie that was 231/2 by 18 girth,,that makes it over 8 then at cumberland and a smallie that was 221/2 at green last year mmmmm i figured guessing 7 at cumberland and over 6 at green,,,i like that way of adding..LOL and have people that seen them

Doug it's not an exact science however it gets pretty darn close. Try it next time and then after you do it put it on decent scales and see how close it is. I didn't believe it either until I tryed it a few times. 18 inch girth, that's a dude, good job, Mark. :7
Well mark, I`m like you,,,I don`t think it was a 8 either but a good 7. I`m going to have to buy a good set of scales. I didn`t want to hurt the old girl so I snapped a couple of pic`s which is in to photo site here. I released her so she could make a whole bunch of babys. Who knows one of them babys may be the new record some day. I`ll never kill another big fish just to mount. Killed to many already.
Thanks
Doug
Doug sounds like a strong 7 to me, wow what a hoss. One of my goals in fishing is to land a 8lber, brownie before I die. I sure hope I get that accomplished. I love smallmouth, they are special, they have attitude for sure. Did you catch that one with ole Elnut in the boat??
My biggest came from dale. It was a shade over 24. was weighed twice and the first weight was 7lbs 3 ounces. and later at 6.14 on a different set of scales. I go with 7.3 because it sounds better lol but i will tell you she was a heck of a fish.
