RE: anyone catching ky river walleye, sauger, whitebass??

live suckers and night crawlers float d0wn the river . Fish the deep holes below the riffels , have caught them from the wall at the spillway from about 25 miles down.

RE: anyone catching ky river walleye, sauger, whitebass??

Is this news about E-Coli in the fish near the Dix Dam just a joke or for real? I recently told a friend of wanting to get involved in sauger fishing. And he was telling me that there was an alert message posted for individuals catching fish near the Dix Dam, that the fish might contain a trace of the bacteria E-Coli. Being new to that area and fishing, I didn't know how to respond. Thanks.

It was in the news last week saying the levels of E-Coli was five times the acceptable level in the Dix which feeds Herrington Lake. I forgot the creek that feeds the Dix they mentioned that was also high. This is distribing because you can get an infection from just putting your hands into the water if you have cuts on them.

I also fish Herrington quite a bit from time to time for crappie, have done really well there with some nice size black crappie. That lake which is fed by the Dix river gets really nasty as most you probably know after a good rain. Lots and lots of thrash. I would like to know more about this claim of the e-coli. I sure don't want to be taking any chances of getting sick by eating the crappie I catch. If anyone knows more FACTS please post for all of us.

I don't think there is any risk of eating fish coming from water infected by e-coli. I imagine there is some in most of our rivers and lakes and the main risk is being exposed to the water itself. If there is an e-coli present when you cook the fish it would kill the bacteria. I am no microbe expert but I don't think there is any danger.
