    Float n Fly Line ?

I am thinking about getting a FnF setup, which includes Spinning gear. I am terrible with spinning gear, except when I use braids, which is what I have on the few spinning reels I do have. My question is: can you use a light baid (such as Spider wire) for the main line and use mono or flourocarbon from the bobber/swivel down to the fly?

Does anyone do this? How has it worked for you?

    Thanks,

    Grumpy

Oh heck yes. Go to my site on Float and Fly...
www.FloatandFly.com and I describe the absolute best way to rig using Power Pro Braid and Seaguar Fluorocarbon, using a 3 way swivel method that Bob Coan Developed.
It works extremely well and is better than most rigs due to the swivel and the bobber attaching to the swivel so you do not mess up the line wrapping it around the bobber.

Thanks, Jim, I must have missed that part when I read your stuff.
    Good site, by the way.

Anyone else have any experience with using braids?

    Hey Grumpy,

I don't FNF, but I have read many of the posts on here talking about the fact that braided line is light, and will float. Using a super light jig, it is a lot tougher to get the line to sink. Now if you use a leader that is the depth of what you are fishing, you are ok.

We need to get together and I'll teach you how to tie a double Uni-Knot. I learned from a Hank Parker show. This knot is just about 100% line strength.

I hope all is well there.

Good luck with the new technique.

    Tight lines and God Bless

It is not at all a techinque that requires special lines or rods or reels. You can do the same thing with slip bobbers with a bobber stop with any rig with 4 to 6 pound test. It is easier to do with a long rod and a fixed bobber, just my opinion.

I'd be glad to be taught that lesson. It sure would be a whloe lot eaiser. I'sure Bob Coan, Stephen Headrick, John Davis, Ralph Sandfer and Phillip Haley would also love to know how. It sure would make thier lives a whole lot easier on their guide trips. Less leaders to tie. Less tangles.....

So please tell us how we can do that. You may be onto something....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or better yet show up at the Get-to-Gether...Bob and Stephen will be there and you can show the whole fam damily.
