Hello to all,
My name is Tom Gribble I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have a dilemma here. Who here has ever wanted to float the Cumberland, but needs a partner? I want to fish the Cumberland in the winter months. I own a pontoon boat, and it’s a great craft but since it does not have a motor I’m at the mercy of the water. I’m looking for one of two things. I would like to find a person who like to fish, but is willing to drive down around Helms landing, Rock House, Winfreys Ferry, or Wolf Creek Dam. I’m looking to do a 6-9 mile float. I would be willing to also find a local down there who understands my problem, and who would be willing for a fee plant my truck at the take out and drive me up to the put in for a fee. I realize that this is going to really tough, but if you like to fish and have a watercraft you know what I’m going through. Thanks for any help you guys/gals maybe able to offer.

Help ... lol ..
The lack of information you are getting is why I never bothered to buy a pontoon. There are some people who do shuttles, but the guides are very tight lipped about who they are. You might try contacting Fred at the Sporting Tradition in Lexington. If anybody knows of a shuttle service, it would be him.
Good luck, and I hope you can work it out.
This time of the year, I would be heading north (especially with your handle). I hear the Erie runs are just getting started. Chances are that you will catch a lot larger fish there than in the Cumberland, and you don't even need a shuttle.
You really should'nt put a boat on the Cum. that you can't control . I would'nt put a pontoon on that part of the river period, much less one w/out a motor. I may be wrong and people may do it all the time but it will be dangerous.
got the best answer for yah. me an a friend could go down with yah. see we could put the boat in at the dam. i can stay there while u an micheal take the truck an trailer to the next boat dock. he then brings up back, i mean thas a if micheal goes but hey we could always find someone. well i don't know when u want to go but give me a week an we can get something planed. however how we goin to stop at the next boat dock .

Ok truck a would be the chase / pick up vehicle.... that would be at the take out.. this vehicle would bring one other guy to the truck at the put in. there would be a bit of running around and back tracking, but its the easiest way to do it, and we would be self sufficiant.
...we will stop by being close to the shore that the ramp is on the ramp will be shallow and you just get out .. I've got a gps unit.... we will be fine!
