JCB,
This time of yr it will hold flow a lot longer. Gald to see someone getting out.

Waded the main stem of Elkhorn Creek yesterday from 3 to dark with a buddy.
Water gin clear and much higher than I expected. Many of the holes I was expecting to be nice and slack had lots of current running through them. Water temp we scientifically measured to be...cold.
First cast brought a super-fat 2-pounder as partner doubled up with a 12" largemouth. Rest of the day brought about 10 more fish anywhere from 6" to 12", mostly smallmouth, a couple largemouth and one spot. We used a Greenback Yo-Zuri suspending minnow, pumpkin tube and drifted shiners. The larger fish came on the shiners, surprise.
Without exception, all came out of deep slack water. It was okay if there was a current break nearby, but if there was any flow at all through your hole, no bites.
Awesome to be fishing Elkhorn on a 70 degree day in mid-November.

The Elkhorn has been on my mind a lot today! I wish I could be on it all day today. John, glad to see you got out and caught a few. Lets make sure to get out a few times next year. Take care, buddy!
