RE: Countdown to 12 pounder has begun...

Hey Billy you and Elwood don't forget about laurel. Thats where I'll be this winter looking for the same thing. Been some awful nice brownfish caught this year and it did hold the state record while the old record was on hold and let me tell you that was one heck of a fish. Good luck to all on your quest. Just a thought how about a F-n-F big fish tourny this year. Elwood on Dale, Billy on Cumberland, me on Laurel. Pictures shown with size and weight,I,m sure no one would stretch the size any lol. Biggest fish of the season wins braggin rights for their home lake. Maybe a lure or two.

Where do you stay on Dale, Elnut? I would just like to meet you and shake your hand. Son and I will be at Horse Creek Thanksgiving weekend, and the FnF get together also. Black and silver Stratos 21 Extreme SS, 225 Johnson.

Let me tell you guys something about Elwood; I've known him pretty much all my life and he was sick and twisted way before he caught smallie fever. I recall a time when he was almost as passionate about golf as he is fishing; so he gets me on the golf course when it was 30 degrees and spittin snow. I swear the man was wearing a pair of shorts and a golf shirt! Come to think of it, I think we had the course to ourselves, just like he'll have the lake to himself. Except this year I'll be tagging along trying to learn a little and man the net.

Ok Elwood, it looks like most people here are in agreement that your Elnut name fits you well...However, on the other hand (in Elwood's defense...cough, cough), it's been my past experience that when a fish is on the line during cold wet and drizzly conditions it tends to warm things up, or at least it makes you forget about it for awhile anyway.

    Good luck to ya Elwood!....

    P.S.

"Golf"???? I never would have guessed it.

Golf??????, yes Golf and I used to be pretty good at it also. Got to where I could break 80 on a pretty regular basis, even shot 1 under 71 on Sportland Golf Course in Winchester about 12 years ago or so but, have only played 3 rounds total since 1997. 3 hernia operations plus a staff infection in my stomache which took 9 stays in the hospital and 4 more surgeries to fix plus 1 weight loss surgery all since 1997 will make a man give up anything that makes you bend and torque your mid-section. Went out fall of 2004 and hit a bucket of balls at the driving range and I think I actually got 3 to go in the direction that I wanted. All the rest were skulled, hooked, sliced, whiffed, rolled and every other way a guy can hit a bad shot. Not picked up the clubs since. Probably have 300 NEW golf balls in the garage, Titleist, Wilson Staff, Ultra, etc from salesmen that stop in trying to make a sale. Doubt they will ever see the end of my clubs.

I do believe that day we played golf the golf course attendant came around as we were on the 5th or 6th and said leave the cart by the door fellas for I am locking up and going home. We had unlimited use of the course and could play as many holes as we wanted, unlimited mulligans, play holes over and over again, million tee shots on par threes and everything. What did we do, we finished the front 9, parked the cart and headed for the warm confines of the house. Paid for 18 holes, unlimited use of course, and played 9 holes and left, just how cold and windy was it that day?

Count me in boys and girls on the FNF Big Fish of the year pool. I hope to have it locked up by the 3rd of December at the latest. I figure a 12 pounder will have a good shot of taking first prize.

I will put 5 - 1/16oz Punisher Duck Feather Jigs, 5 - 1/16oz Punisher Craft Hair Jigs, 4 - Bob's Bobbers (the real ones, not the ones I make), and a Bow to your Greatness in the prize pool for the biggest FNF smallie of the year.

Hopefully, my honey hole will give up a couple of 6 pounders again this year like last.

    RE: Smallmouth Games.............................

Looks like we got a friendly competition going on. I will throw in the same elwood.Get enough involved and a man would be set with enough F-n-F gear to last a lifetime . Just remember elwood that this is my rookie year with F-N-F so i get a 2 pound handicap lol That means I only have to catch one that weighs 11 to top your 12. pressure on you now. Let the games begin.

    RE: Smallmouth Games.............................

Come on Michael, 2 pound handicap????, less back up the handicapping bus a little bit. But since I have committed to give tackle away in our friendly competition, and if you have seen my FNF/Winter Tackle Box, Striper Tackle Box, Plastic Tackle Box, Spinnerbait Box, plus the 60 pound general tackle box all stuffed full to the gills (yes I have a fishing tackle shopping problem and am currently involved in counseling to cure the disease), I have plenty to give away plus I always like a challenge, I will give you the 2 pound handicap and accept your challenge. Let the games begin.
