winter time night fishin for crappie

i have notice that alot shad still comin to the top at night. so i'm wanderin have anyone ever tried to fish underlights durin the winter. i'm a die hard fisherman an hey i know for a fact alot of fisherman hang it up durin the winter or wait for the warmer days. however durin the night the wind usally dies an some times its warmer. so if anyone has tried it i would like to know thanks.

Year before last, the day after Christmas, a buddy and I were putting in at dawn at Burnside ramp on Cumberland to striper/bass fish. A guy was pulling out by himself, so we gave him a hand.

He showed us a livewell with a limit of slab crappie. Said he'd only been out since 4 A.M. Said they were coming off wood in about 20 feet of water, up in the river.
