General question regarding tournaments

I'm not a tournament guy, I don't even belong to a club of any sort for that matter. I'm not ruling either one out but right now my busy life style doesn't allow me the time, at any rate I'd like to get your alls opinions on the following, would you all say the amount of fish caught was decent/good or bad?

Spring Time (late April/early May).
34 boats entered (two men per boat).
13 boats brought back their limit.
Four fish over 5 lbs.
Big fish 5.8 lbs.
110 fish caught total resulting in a total weight of 230 lbs. (2.11 lbs average per fish).

No, this isn't part of a college entrance exam or anything, I was just curious about the numbers and wanted to know if you all think this is pretty good. Thanks!

I think that the body of water fished would determine the quality of such a tournament. For some place like Toho that's probably pretty poor, but from what I've read about Taylorsville (I've never fished it myself), it might be a good day.

I know that didn't help much, but let us know the lake.

Like Danny said it all depends on the lake, time of the year, rain ect. It sounds pretty good. But I have seen somedays that everybody must have 5 and all pretty good.

The results are average. I am comparing the results to Ky Lake/Lake Barkley. The big fish number is great, but after the limit boats are in that left 21 boats with 45 fish which is a poor average for spring, sounds like some may have been on a pattern that was beaten to death. I know exactly how that feels, early this year over a thousand fish was taken from Barkley in the flowers, and the next week my boater seemed to think that we should fish the flowers in a tournament the same way as the week before, we came in with no fish.

I think there will be alot of variables in the numbers...body of water/time of year/conditions for that day.

I do know of a club that keeps the kinda of information you are looking for. go to www.greenriverbassclub.com and click on results. They fish Green, Barren, Nolin and Cumberland and always post the results with the stats on number of boats/fish/limits/bigfish. That will give you an idea of what is being cought in south central ky lakes.

R19 - You hit the nail on the head with Green River. I was checking out their website and saw all of the stats they were keeping, etc...I just happened to pick out this one report out of all of them...Green River Lake is the lake I was curious about for spring time bassin'.

So what do you all, do you think those were good numbers for Green River Lake in the spring or average or below average or what?

way below average. or at least i think so. i love green river in the spring personally. i know of a few other tourney's this spring down there that it took 15lbs to win. of course i had no where near that but there were several boats up near that.

If you are only interested in my opinion on the SPRING numbers at Green they had 2 tournaments. March 18 I remember being at the weigh in on that tournament. I did not fish but I went to watch. The weather earlier in the week was mid 50s but day of the tournament was in the low 40s to upper 30s if my memory is correct blue bird skys with a cold front but the fish were still biting 18.50 1st and 13.84 4th good numbers in my opinion giving the conditions. On May 20 14.36 1st and 9.36 4th still good numbers in my opinion for that lake. Even though I dont fish in that club I know several of the members and on more than one occasion we have had discussion about how Green has put out more limits this year than in the past NOT bigger weights but more limits of fish. 05 was a good year for me on big fish on that lake. 06 was ok but deffinatly had more small limits in 06 than any other year that I have been on the water.

Thanks for your input R19. I like Green and in my opinion it has some decent amounts of cover, standing timber in some areas, etc...but it's been a few years since I've fished it. I'm just trying to get my ducks lined up in a row NOW so I'll be more prepared come spring...Thanks again!
