My favorite time to fish is April and then October. However wth this warm weather I have been doing pretty good.
January for smallies on Dale Hollow trying to catch a 6 pounder and then April for anything.
Regardless of the month, anytime I get to go is my favorite time...truthfully though I like the late part of the year (Oct., Nov., Dec.), the reason(s) being because I feel there are fewer people on the water at this time of year...lots of guys give up their rods and reels at this time of year for guns and bows, plus the pleasure boaters have been long gone.
You only asked for my favorite time but once I get going on this fish talk it's hard for me to stop, lol...My second favorite time is late winter/early spring, especially in this 3 acre farm pond I go to...man I can absolutely tear them up there...but like someone once said, going to a farm pond eliminates half the battle, which is locating the fish in the first place. But it gives me a chance to try out new lures and new techniques without traveling across the entire beautiful state of Kentucky.
In the summer I completely shut it down and forget about it...during June, July and August I just about quit fishing.
May, cause thats when stripers go boom on top :9

Andrew, we are going next year if I have to come to Lexington in the middle of the night, take you hostage, throw you in the Champion and hog tie you down, drive to the big C and untie you once we are afloat, LOL. :P
lol!! Sorry man, you are nowhere near pretty enough to hog tie me :+ I'll just have to meet you down there instead.

LOL, ain't that the truth, o.k. I'll settle for meeting you down there I guess, LOL. :+
I myself absolutly love the month of May. That is usually when I get started night fishing.Stripes and Walleyes , big ol bucketmouths and the infamous brown fish are getting going for me. Plus the calm and peacefulness of the darkness just really helps unwind.
Tim,
Nothing more peaceful than full moon, blacklight, blue line, black and blue jig or chameleon craw tube, Dale Hollow after all the joyboaters have abandoned or passed out in July and August. Don't give it up in the summer, NIGHT FISH. One 5 pound Smallie at Dale Hollow on a jig or one Arm Breaking / Practically pull the rod from your hand hit while slow rolling a drop spinnerbait at Ky Lake will get you hooked to night fishing. Bugs (especially Willow Flies) are a little bit of an issue at Ky but not at Dale.
