Saturday Winner Float n Fly Weekend Tournament

Brent Isley with an 4.82 pound smallmouth won the big fish tournament first day. Fishing was tough. Only 2 fish came to the weigh in. One Rainbow Trout was weighed though at 3.5 pounds.
Those of you who could not come are missing a great time and great food including the breakfast Jim is fixing. Scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, sliced apples, juice, (Orange, Pineapple, and Grapefruit) and PLENTY of good coffee. ONLY $3.00
Fishin.com and Horse Creek Dock hope to do this again next year the same weekend.. so folks get ready to come down and fish the Float and Fly on the 2nd Weekend of December 2007.

Dang Jim, too bad elnut didn't get to bring the 12 lber to the scales yet!!!

How many folks have you had for the fishing and seminars?

If you have a great deal more people there than we have had at Barren, would it be better to move the spring get together down there? Still not sure I could make it, but if we could get better participation then that is what is important.

Besides, I've not ever fished it, and would love to have a really good reason to make that trip... you know the FISHIN.COM spring get together.

Glad you guys are having fun! Wish I could have made it.

    Tight lines and God Bless

    Danny

Sorry Danny to disappoint but I did not fish the tourney at all. I was on some really good fish and I will post a report in a little while but all my fish where 25 miles from Horse Creek and my old heap can't run that far. I fished North of First Island where the water was clearer. I had 30 smallies for the week total with 9 over 4 lbs and 5 over 5 lbs with the biggest 5-15. I had a 5-0 Saturday but she was only 20 1/2 so she would not have kept anyway. Post and pictures will follow a little later when I get time.

Yellow Jig is GOOD, VERY GOOD. Caught 2 fish on it with one being a 5 1/2 pig on the SECOND cast and the other a little over 3. My problem is that I have so much confidence in the fly that I give up too easy on the yellow jig. 28 more smallies on the fly with 8 over 4 and 4 more over 5 is too much for me to put down. I would say I am torn between two lovers but right now the fly wins for me, but there are plenty of those yellow jigs in my box and I kept one tied on all week.

Not everything that gets wet is pretty, but sometimes it gets pretty wet.

Tracker Deep V 17, 90 Merc - Everybody ask me how many Walleye do I catch around Dale or Stripers around Cumberland or Catfish around KY and my answer is that I fish for Smallies and then get this "LOOK". Very comfortable boat for a Fat Man.
