I am going tomorrow to try to catch the first sauger this winter ,we have tried several times but nothing only white bass .Hopefully the water temp will co-operate but I really dont think thats an issue I got a bad felling the "run " is not going to be that good this year ,hope I am wrong.
We started catching Sauger in '05 during Sept while striper fishing

Hey buddy, I went to the duck pond yesterday and never got a bite. Marked abunch of shad and a few on the bottom but nothing. I feel like you. I don`t know what happened this yr?...Water been too high?...hell i don`t know, but i bet it`s not going to be near as good as last year. Last year would spoil ya. Been catching some nice stripers. Hey lets meet up 1 morning and see if we can find the sauger.

We hit it hard again today and still no sauger, only a few white bass and two drum.In my opinion once and if they stabelize the water and run it steady for a few days the sauger might turn on. Good Luck and let us know if you find the sauger.

I fish for sauger below Cannelton Dam. Haven't been able to go for two yrs. Can anyone give me a report. The river is finally at the right depth. Thanks for any help.

Anyone fish for Sauger below the **** at Newburgh, IN? I've see guys fishing below that dam in the winter months.

River has been pretty high the last few weeks. We had too much rain. Patoka Lake was at 544 ft two weekend ago. That's pretty high for this time of the year.

I heard the White River at Petersburgh, IN was at flood stage and parts of the IL side were flooded today. I got that from listing to NOA radio.

Crappie were biting today for me. I landed 5 nice ones and also hooked and released a nice 13" long Largemouth. All were caught near the bottom about 22ft deep near some structure that was planted two years ago. Structure sticks up from the bottom about 10ft and then has branches that radiate out all around the main pole for about 5ft on each side of the main pole. These are PVC crappie Trees that I built and planted. They produce well this time of the year but not so well in the summer months. Must be the slope of the lake where they are that makes the difference.

fished below Cannelton today from 1 to 4 with no luck at all, water looks good, see 1 guy catch a small one that was it

What's going on with the sauger?? Seem's like they should be tearing it up. Plan on trying it Wed. if things workout. Will post the results. Keep me informed.

I ahve a bad feeling the run is in a down year cycle ,They KDFW has put over 300,000 hybrids in the river last spring. Could this affect the sauger ?:(
