I was an avid bobber wrapper until this year. I have always used 6lb P Line and wrapped my bobber straight to the line. I have broken off a couple of fish early last year and in 2003, that broke off at the bobber. I was constantly re-tieing after catching a big fish for fear of kinking that bobber area even more. I vowed to go to the 3-way swivel rig and did so last week. The 3-way rig is heads and shoulders above wrapping your bobber. I used 8lb Fireline, #4 3-way swivel and 6lb XPS Bass Pro Flouro leader. The fireline floats on top of the water which helped the action of the bobber plus I got visibly more distance on my cast. The hookset felt more secure than in the past due to no stretch in the fireline. Anyone just starting out or considering changing to the 3-way but has not done it yet, take note it is the only way to go.
