I use a differant rig all together, and have good luck with it.
I use the 8# fireline as my main line to a barrel swivle. Not a three way. Just a regular barrel swivel. Then I use exactly 10ft. of P-Line florocarbon leader (6#) to my jig. I always start at 10ft. and go deeper when needed. I very rairly go shallower than that. I then attach the bobber by wrapping the fire line once around the top and the bottom. You will not hurt the interity of the fireline by wrapping it like you will mono. I start out right above the swivel, 10ft. deep, then if I want to go deeper, I just move the bobber up the line. If I go to say 13 or 15ft., the fireline is still 10ft. away from the jig, and the fish isn't going to see it. I have had no problem with the action of the jig either. It is just a quick way to change depth, without having to re-tye. Hope this helps someone.
