Just wanted to say hello to everyone, "newby", and thank all of you for all the great information everyone has so freely given over the years. I have been reading this site for ever, and have gotten a ton of great, and practial information, and finally got to put it to use out in the field, once i bought my first boat at last years boat show at freedom hall. My first question to everyone is has anyone had any problem with breaking the lips off of the rapala dt series, and if you have, is there anyway to prevent this. I have now broken at least five of them last year, and the last one had a 3lb bass attached, really a bummer. thanks for any help i can get. Once again thanks for everyones great advice throughout the years

Don't slap them on the water to get the crap off the hooks. They are great lures, but you are right the bills break easy. That is where mono is good too(10 lb test). More stretch when you hit rocks and stuff deep.

Send the DT's back. I had a DT4 lip break off last spring pretty much 2 hours after I took her out of the package. It broke off as I slapped the water to remove the grass (I don't do that anymore for I was knew to crankbait fishing at the time). It had produced several Bucketmouths and a Pickerel before the bill broke. It was the only DT4 Firetiger that I had and the second it broke the Catching stopped. I called Rapala and sent it back to them telling them what a great bait, now if it only stayed together a little longer. The sent me back 4 DT4's, 4 DT6's, 4 DT10's and 4 DT16's in various colors for my trouble. What a deal, send one broken one back and get 16 new ones in return. I am not saying they will do this for all and maybe I got lucky for they had just came out with this bait and I guess wanted to see it in its broken state but it is worth a try.
Elnut Rapala ave probably been reading your post and know how tough you are and don't want to mess with you.
Is your shoulder healed?

Rapala has nothing to fear with me for I am 51% Teddy Bear and only 49% Grizzly Bear ( My wife says it is more like 95/5, but when that 5% hits it is bad news for someone). Shoulder is getting better, still have not gone to the doctor due to be too stubborn but at least I can pick my nose and scratch my butt without too much pain. Anyone with stock in Icy Hot and Advil are loving me for the past 3 weeks. Lost count of how much Icy Hot I have used and just bought a 180 pack of Advil Geltabs yesterday. As long as it does not interfere with my casting and hooksetting this coming weekend at Dale, all is good. If not, it won't be the first time (or probably the last) that Henson has taken me to the hospital during a fishing trip. If it does hurt the casting and hooksetting, then I will play Netboy, Guide, Truck Trailer parker, and Sandwich Maker (even that will beat work).
welcome... if Rapalas are breaking, go to Strike King or bandits ...
welcome to you.as far as bills breaking previous post are right, don't slap them land them in the water not on the bank and use a soft rod it will eleviate the presuure on them plus fish won't pull off either.
bandits and st kings are good but that rapala has to be in the boat to pick up all the other 2 miss :):)
good fishing
oh yeah don't leave them in the boat in your box where they get real hot it weakens the bills too and cause the glue to come loose.
