Not the least bit worried about the "hand that fed me" for what was fed by this particular person, come to find out, was a bunch of crap in the first place and it took my own personal experiences on the water to find this out first hand. Shoulder is getting better and should be back in FNF casting form within a week or so, thanks for asking.

    RE: Dale Hollow this week....

"One of these people was a particular guide on the lake that I thought I could trust but I now have my doubts.

We would like to know who you are referring to. I was hoping you would edit out that part. These guides have been good to Fishin.com and its folks. I know 4 now actually 5. I would hate to think you are referring to one of them.
And now you have publically accepted a gift worth 250.00 for taking someone out and helping them catch a fish. Not a thing in the world wrong with that. But if I were a guide it would definitely catch my attention.
Sounds to me like your guiding yourself.

Careful on how you put things in the public's view. Don't think for a minute these guides aren't buddies and don't ever speak to one another....Trust me, they do.

I know you love to fish Dale Hollow. So do I, but blasting those guides or a guide because you had a crappy week of fishing just don't add up to good sense.

    Respectfully,
    Billy Elkins

Agree...i don't live in Tenn. but, have found I do better than most locals and SOME guides.
Had the same thing happen to me and I won't name names either.
If I do want to divulge some info...it will only be baits and depths...no areas!
AND I make dang sure no one is following me!
It's a shame but, don't think for one minute that these guys won't still your info...especially if they know your on fish!x(

    RE: Dale Hollow this week....

First, the post has nothing to do with a "crappy week of fishing" for I have "Fished" many days to "Catch" what I do. The post was just as it is stated and I stand behind it. I really don't care if I ever speak to this certain individual again for what I did not post was the fact that I point blank asked 2 guys who cut in front of me to fish the same spot that I was "how did they know about this place and they said ------------- ------------ brought us here on a guide trip after I spcifically asked this person to not take any of his guides to this spot. Then I call him and ask him point blank to get lied to and told that I have never taken any clients to this spot for "I have way too many to fish the one you told me about". When the 2 guys in the boat said his name specifically unnanounced, I can add 2+2 and come up with 4. I know it is not my lake and I know I don't own the spot but at the time I told him I was so excited that I had caught 9 fish over 3 lbs from one spot including a 6-2 that I showed it to him on the map. It will never happen again, rest assured.

Second, after I posted the post and read it the next day, I did go in to "Edit" out the part about the guide but it told me that it was too late to edit. I sent an emails directly to Jim and Peter asking them to delete the post all together but it has not been done yet.

Third, Mike and my day together was never a guide trip nor ever mentioned of any gift changing hands. If I wanted something from Mike, I would have taken him up on his offer for some gas money when I dropped him off at Willow Grove at dark. I knew how much we ran that day and to be exact, I put $39 bucks back in my tank after she was completely full to start the day. I would have ran the same spots and did the same thing whether Mike was with me or not. I am not a guide nor will I ever be a guide and I have helped more people out on this sight in regards to FNF than just about anyone else. You have not clue to how many personal emails and private messages I have responded to in regards to not just FNF but night fishing as well. These are my 2 favorite parts of fishing and what I do best and in the past have shared what I know. Don't aske me about flipping or pitching, deep ledge fishing, crappie, bluegill, catfish or even largemouth fish for that goes. Smallmouth at night and FNF are what I do best. Maybe I am too free with my some of my information that I have learned the hard way and want to help others not make the same mistakes that I made in learning. Certainly that seems to be a fault of my own and I will take steps to correct this in the future and keep what I know to myself.

    Have a wonderful New Years.

    Shhhooooooowwwweeeeee....

Cue the dramatic music. This is better than when we used to watch Dallas on Friday nights. :-)

    Elnut,

Never met you, but always enjoyed reading your stuff here. Obviously, you're as passionate about fishing as any fellow can be, which I admire. But respectfully, chill out son! You're sounding about as high-strung as an alley cat caught in a power line.

PS. Sorry to hear about the shoulder. Speedy recover there dude.

    Elnut,

I'll make a call and see if I can get it handled for you. That edit feature used to give you all the time in the world to edit your posts. I,too, have fell victim to the edit timer. Maybe it can be modified.

    RE: Dale Hollow this week....

You are correct in that ther are no secret spots at Dale Hollow, but there are those spots that DON"T stick out like a sore thumb on the map, those spots that you would run right by them at full plane and never give them a second thought to fish, those spots that if someone told you held fish you would still question it when you saw it and that is one of these spots. It may be fished by many that have found it over the years but I guarantee you it is not fished nearly as much as the other "Community Holes" that I see fished, or at least it used to not be.

hey Elwood, sorry to hear about all of your troubles down there man. how's that shoulder doing? sorry to hear about your honey hole too. You told me about that spot and I never made it down there to give it a try. I'm the same way with my spots, I only tell the few people that I know arent going to be spreading it around. So far I've been lucky enough that no one has spread the word on them. you'll find you another spot like that, there are a hundred of them on every lake in ky man.

    RE: Dale Hollow this week....

i think many have learned that lesson the hard way, i know i have lol. its gotten to a point where i have to start being selective about who i take fishing on certain lakes. some people just wont take the time to find their own spots. oh well, happy new years.

The spot is not that important....

This whole thing is not about the "Spot" or the fact that fishing stunk last week and I am trying to blame someone for that. It is about the fact that I asked someone for his word not to take his clients to this particulars spot, that he said he had never fished before, and then I see more and more boats on this very spot time after time after time. People can say they have known about it for years, fished it for years, but funny thing is, I had not seen a boat on this hole until after I had my outstanding day and then subsequent days as well. Mike and Cliff both were in the boat with me on seperate days the past couple of weeks, when we were crowded out of the spot by 2 other boats it is so popular. I finally asked one of them how they knew about it and they said "He" had brought them there on a guide trip. They had no clue who had told "him" about the spot to begin with. When I ask "him", he flat out lies to me and says he has NEVER taken a guide trip to that spot in the past, just like he PROMISED. You just don't do people like that or at least I don't.

My last official post on this topic. Good Luck to all in the New Year in landing the 12 pounder.
