I have asked about fishing parts of the rough for crappie around the local bait shops here in Owensboro and no one heads that way. What part are the rough are you looking to fish on?

Anyone do any fishing this year on rough? I am interested in crappie fishing there because I live so close. I would like to fish from the bank, but I have a boat if it would work out better. Have any information about it? Let me know!

Any part that holds fish! My birthday is on saturday, and my present to myself was a day of fishing. I'm just trying to gather some info to make my chances a little better.
a boat is better but if you are walking go to either south fork or north fork where it turns to river and isn't real wide and try a float and tube and some minnows drift them by any cover from 2ft deep or deeper,i don't know how mudy it is after the rain but i caught them last year like that all winter when it warmed a little, change colors acording to water clarity, black and char tube worked well as did red\chart and solid chart.

My on;y concern is finding an access point to the water by foot and still being able to find fish. Any suggestions?
what area do you live in??

I live in whitesville, just on the other side of ohio county. I have fished rough quite a bit for bass, but never for crappie.
Well, I came back with 15, one almost made to 2lb mark. I missed probably 50 strikes, and caught 20 that didn't make the limit. I can't wait to go back.
got the stratos hooked up going down tomorrow are they deep or did the jig n bob work?
Jig and bobber in 3ft of water was what I caught all mine off of. Red a,d white tube jig seemed to work the best.
I have never fished the rough river or rough river lake. Are you catching crappie on the river?? if so what are the launch area like and their location? Just trying to find something a little closer to home for some fishing spots.

I am fishing the lake, but right now, it is reduced to a creek. There is a little bit of current, so it is keeping the fish moving a little. We are catching fish every time we go, and usually coming out with at least 15 over the 9 inch limit, but most of the time more. It is a blast.
