You can not get caught fishing any kind of bass pattern or bait before the season opens. They have conservation zones on some lakes that you can not run your boat in before season. They really protect the spawn.
Yes the river is great, a lot of current but you get in behind some islands and have a ball.
Hi Ryan and verybody else that reads this. I`ve been going to the Ely area every yr since I was 18months old and I`m a ole man now..LOL(50) and would love to get a few guys together and take a trip up there. I know most all the lake by heart,,(could almost draw maps..LOL) I love it up there and could show you all a bunch of fun. I fish for smallies, walleye, and most fun Northerns and Musky! When people talk about them brown fish,,well these down here ain`t brown. You should see the ones from up there. They are real dark brown! Loads of 3-6lbs Muskys and Northerns from 10-25lbs are common in the lakes I fish for them at. I get good deals on cabins. I went for 10 yrs bartering stays for carpet work and know alot of resort owners. I stay on a lake that is ultra clear and love watching smallies come from 30ft down to the top to nail a fluke. I keep my boat on the trailer alot and may hit 3 different lakes aday. If 1 lake isn`t hitting I just trailer over 3 maile or so and hit another one. There`s lest 50 lakes in a 20 mile area. So if anybody is interested in going lets get togather and have a ball.
Doug
