I am going to take your advice and fish the Wolf. I know the Wolf well, I just wanted to try a different area, but if the water at the **** is even close to turn over I am not risking it. I thought someone on this site said the State Park was closed for a quota hunt though.

I don't know about any closure at the State Park. We launched from the State Park on Thursday the 21st with no problem. You will defineately find clearer and a little cooler water in the Wolf versus the rest of the lake. Personally, I never caught any BIG smallies in the Wolf and rarely fish it for that reason. My buddy Cliff had one good 3 1/2 pounder for the biggest of the day. We had 15 fish for the day that should have been 20, but I was learning to set the hook on my new Loomis and missed 4 fish myself. Most of what was caught was Kentucky's but we did have a few Smallies mixed in. Duck with Blue and Chartruese was the ticket that day set about 10-11 feet under the bobber. Good Luck

Thanks. I did a little further research, the quota hunt ends today. I have caught several good brown fish from the State Park area. I had two over five at the mouth of the Wolf last year. My son and I had three over 4lbs one day last year within site of the dock one day last January. He caught what was probably a Jr. IGFA world record spot on the fnf that day also. His first cast was a 4-2 spot on six pound test. He was six at the time. Email me, and I will take you to that part of the lake any time you want. After reading your recent post I think it is safe to assume you wouldn't give up any of my areas.:-)

That is a MONSTER spot. I caught one that was 4-6 last winter, the absolute PRETTIEST fish I ever caught. I almost kept her to mount for I did not know much about them as far as how big they get and I found out later that the lake record for Dale on a Kentucky Bass is 4-9, if what the guy told me was true. I turned her loose and would say she has gained those 3 ounces by now. Beautiful fish, that fought like a CHAMP. Old All Pro Rod was plum doubled up for a long time during that struggle. Perfect FNF day for I remember it well, bone chilling cold, windy, spitting sleet, snow and rain and caught her off a spot that if I catch a fish it is usually a 3lb or better Brown fish but I was not complaining one bit. Beautiful Fish.

I can only hope that when my little boy gets to be 6, he has the luck to catch a bute like that. He is 3 now and loves to make cast and reel up his little tykes rod plus I keep a normal spinning reel next to my recliner and he sits in my lap and reels it for fun. I ask him what kind of fish does Daddy catch and he says "Big Mall Mall Mall Mall Mouth Bass" **** Skippy Daddy Says!!!!! 3 more years to learn more about Dale and then Joshua "Daddy's Boy" Lumpkins will be in the boat with Daddy and probably Cliff chasing "Them Old Brownfish", with Cliff manning the front and Daddy trying to keep the rambunctious one in the boat and not in the water. Cliff's job is to work the trolling motor and man the NET for he still has not given me enough experience on the Net end of the equation.
