    Right on Spotboy very true man--the girth will tell you more if you had guess,thats the way i see it lol :)

    Also the membrane that is the fish's tail fin can play a part in just how long a fish is. You look at some fish and note . The fin at the end of the tail on some fish may be 2- 3 or even longer, that adds to the length but does very little for the weight. Then some fish the fin is almost non existent1 inch or less.but the fish is still a long fish, too many variables to have a "measuring formula" to find the weight.....

    That is why the formula's normally give a RANGE to weight.
    All the formula's I have seen for a 27 inch fish put it in EXCESS of 8 pounds.
    That said.. YES you are right.. but we are having a discussion of a particular fish here.. and hopefully later today we will have a picture of it.
