MotorGuide 360 Gator Mount

I'm getting ready to buy a new trolling motor and have always had a MotorGuide. I'm looking at a 71# Freshwater foot control with the 360 Gator mount. I have been hearing good and bad things about the 360 Gator mount. I have heard some say they spend more time adjusting it from where it slips in the mount than they do fishing. Any of you guys that have this mount what do you like and dislike about it. Thanks...

I haven't had any experience using one yet, but want to get one for my boat...Can they be bought from Bass Pro Shops, or do you have to get them from Motor guide?

I have a 360 mount and had trouble with it slipping.I had to put a hose clamp on the shaft to keep it from slipping down.I like it other than that,it's better than the old gator mount.I don't have to re-adjust it every time I hit something.

Did it start slipping in the mount from the time that is was new or with age. I was looking at the display motor at BPS and it slid in the mount but I don't think it was tightened up like it should have been. That same motor is listed in the 2007 catalog with a new 20.8 Gator mount. I don't know if I should wait for the new mount which may have problems of it's own.

Can the "N E W " type of Gator Mount be purchased anywhere by itself? The kind that springs back into place by itself. I have the old type that has to be adjusted by hand (with the knobs that you unscrew and tighten back up)each time the trolling motor hits something, real pain in the A**...

I was at the Bass Pro Shop the other day and was gonna purchase a new trolling motor, the rep told me about the slipping problem and said I should wait till Feb. when they have thier spring show...there a new mount coming out them. He said if you can wait you should. So Feb it is for me.

I DONT LIKE THE NEW 360 MOUNT NOT ONLY DID SLIP DOWN A COUPLE OF TIMES THE DAY I BOUGHT IT, BUT IT LEANS SIDE WAYS UNDER IT OWN POWER WHEN YOU CHANGE DIRECTIONS IT CAUSES TORQUE STEERING. SAVE YOUR MONEY BUY THE SPRING TYPE MOUNT.

Thanks for opinions guys, I think I'm going to wait until I can get the new 20.8 Gator mount. It's new this year and looks more like the old type mounts. I went to BPS yesterday and was told they would have it in stock by next month.
