I heard rumor that the smallmouth lake record was broken this past week on Cumberland...
Any truth?

The only Big Smallmouth I have heard of came from one of the guys prefishing for the FOM on last Friday. It was a 8-4, caught on a jerkbait up near Burnside.
He is sending me pics, and I will be adding it to the lunkers page on the FOM site.
Not sure what the lake record is, but I seem to recall a 9+ brown caught by one of the Striper guides several years ago. A picture was on the wall at the State Park at Jamestown. I don't know if it was documented, but in either case, anything over 7 lbs is a huge brown fish in my opinion.
Don
Thanks Don, a 8lb.4oz. is a hawg for sure I bet he wished he'd caught that baby in the tourney, what a fish, wow.
Don that is one big brownie. Congratulations to whoever caught it..I have been after that 8lb mark for a long long time. I have a 7-15 and every year I just know one of my clients is gonna get that big girl....maybe this year.
That would be it.
I heard 8lb 9oz, but with the way "facts" seem to change as they get passed from person to person, I figured it might have been a solid 5 before the news started traveling. HAHA!
The 8lb mark on a smallie is one whale of a fish indeed. I hope we get to see pictures!
Git-R-Done;....
Awesome to say the least. Biggest I heard mentioned in a LONG TIME<<<<

Not everything that gets wet is pretty, but sometimes it gets pretty wet.
Oh Dave,, tell the truth! You had your thumb on the scale didn`t ya.:7
That would have been a new state record a few months ago. Until Kentucky re-recognized the old/new/old world record again -the state record was 8.46 pounds from Laurel.

Doug: If I had my thumb on the scale she would have gone over 8..you can bank on that...!!!! LOL. Hey, I need to talk to you and have misplaced your phone number...how about sending it to me again.

I heard it from one of our truck drivers who fishes Cumberland every weekend. He picked it up at a bait shop down around the lake on Thursday I believe. He then also heard the same thing from some boys that had been at Backwaters in Lexington too.
