    Thanks guys i will give both of theese a try , heck i would try just about anything to stop this or help it a little.

    another tip that i have found out is watch when you drag is loose. like when your lure is stuck on the bottom stop reeling and pull the line with your hands or hold the spool so you have maximum tension on the line. it will help greatly with birds nests. also when the fish runs stop reeling. and if you are using braided line you really have to watch out...

    I have always had trouble with spinning gear because of the line twist you mention. Many good suggestions here, especially using a swivel and a leader. One other thing is I have gone to BRAID for most of my spinning gear--it still twists but doesn't coil and rats-nest like you get with mono.
