I am still amazed with the powers that be to allow a non-native fish into the U.S.A. of course with no intention of being released into the local waters. We will hear in the future that this fish that could never ever be introduced into the local lakes somehow was and are now damaging the native species. When i lived down there we were told that Oscars could not survive if someone flushed them down the toilet or released them but now there are some lakes with large populations. The Tilapia was another one down there that took a better foot hold in the local lakes than expected. Now during spawning season you can see huge deep beds all over the place from Tilapia. Having said that those fish are still impressive!
