Cumberland Friday and Saturday???

There are always fish to be found on the main lake, however in the winter as the water cools the bait fish tend to go into the creeks and seek warmer water. Therefore the bass and stipers follow them into the creeks feeding on them. This is not to say you can't catch them on the main lake as you certainly can, but in my humble opinion you may have more consistancy in the creeks right now. Last weekend there is one spot on my little milk run I do on the main lake, but the wind was to brutal to even attempt it. When I went across the lake before daylight Sunday morning there were 2 and 3 foot rollers and as the morning progressed it stayed that bad and at times worse. Hey do what you feel confident about and report back to us when you return, just kicking you some food for thought, tightlines Mark.

Here is the report for me on cumberland fri, sat and sun morning.. Remember fellows, This was really my first time on this massive body of water that is clear as a freakin bell. I had to change gears because the weather men have no idea what they are talking about. The forecast was for rain, rain, and more rain. It rained for about 10 minutes on saturday morning. During the rain i managed to put a 4 lb spot in the boat. I thought for sure this was a smallie bc of the way it was fighting me, unbelievable nothing like a lm.


Friday: I started out in white oak creek. Water was very clear, I fished the heck out of a jig and a shakey head. I went to the back and found some water that had a little color but couldnt make anything happen, I tried a bandit 300 and a wiggle wort in the dingy water and came up empty. My day ended with 3 bites, 2 on the jig, and one on the shakey head. No size at all on these three lm...

Sat: I went out before the tourney sat morning from the bottom. It started drizzling around 8:15 when a 4 lb spot knocked the holy sh_t out of my jig... It didnt rain the rest of the day and it was slow for me. I tried pretty much everything. I ended up with 3 fish, and 2 other bites. so a total of 5 bites on saturday.

Sunday: No rain again, the sun was actually poking out a little bit and i had a good breeze from the south west. Again i started in the back of the creek. Crank bait, jig and shakey head, nothing. As i was coming out of the creek i noticed the main lake point had the wind blowing in on it pretty good, the sun was also shining on this point. So i pulled out my jerk bait. on the second cast i landed a 2.5 lb spot, and wow these things fight. again i thought it was a smallie. Thats the only bite i got on sun so i got the heck out of there around noon.

Also the water dropped about around 18 inches or more from fri to sunday.

Hey, it could have been worse. Two four pound Ky's ain't bad, those are dandy spots. I love the jig down there and fish it alot, however as long as the water is above 50 degrees at Cumberland bass will chase moving baits. Don't let anybody tell you different, my best bite a couple of weeks ago was on fish eight to ten foot maximum depth and I was cranking it in at pretty good rate. And it wasn't just crankbaits either. I'm glad you caught some, and if you want a better shot at brown fish go to the lower end of the lake, just my humble opinion.
