I don't think it's that simple and you have to look at species individually and their environmental impact. Sure, everybody would like to live without bighead carp, snakeheads, kudzu, zebra mussels, burmese pythons, etc. These are obviously invasive and detremental. But to say "absolutely no exotics" is to say no rainbow trout, brown trout, stripers, hybrids, etc. I don't think many open minded fishermen would agree with that.

If you look at what's going on in the Great Lakes with the gobys, sometimes it's too late before you really know the long term effects. Apparently, the gobys are aggressive and voracious eaters. While this may be good for the fat smallmouth, it's hurting the population of native baitfish and crawfish that have to compete with them for food and territory.

    what defines EXOTIC?

    Is the striped bass exotic?

    another question.......

What about local pay lakes? They are taking fish out of rivers and the great lakes so that fisherman can find pleasure in catcing the same 40 LB catfish over and over and over again. They really dont fight much guys. I wouldnt call the catfish exotic but really, do we really need to take a bunch of BIG fish and put them into a pool sized lake so that we can catch them. REDICULOUS.

RE: O,K. Let's start some "Discussion"

When i lived down there we always seem to hear or read about the latest problem with the management of Florida's resources. This included water, waste and the environment. Examples....Wild hogs can be controlled (wrong), grass carp have done better than expected (as always), oscars can't survive in the wild (wrong), dig trenches and drain the natural rivers for flood control (wrong) and on and on. The Harris Chain and Lake Apopka died for a long time due to pesticides, lack of natural flooding and runnoff but luckily the Harris Chain is back but Lake Apopka is still the dead sea. So my opinion is they will not do a good job of this. What's really sad is how the Florida strain of largemouth do better in other states like Texas than Florida! Who in the wild wild world of sports missed that one???? I know i'm ranting but it's disappointing to see how things get done sometimes.
