If you really wanted to draw a non-average crowd and gain a lot of exposure have a trash-pick up tourney. Take C-land or Herrington after a rain in the spring. Have a normal team tourney but say for example for every pound of trash you bring in and properly dispose of you get a tenth of a pound to your tourney weight. All other normal rules apply. Not sure if anyone would even attempt it or even interested but man it drives me insane to cruise down the lake and see all the junk in the water. Talk about drawing some good publicity to tourney fishermen.
I know of one trail that is doing this at the time......... Tournament is on one certain lake... however you may put in and fish wherever on the lake you like, you may also change ramps or locations during the day. Everyone must be back at a designated ramp by weigh inn time, no exeptions. Of course, this would most likely have to be a group of people who know each other relatively well and trust one another. But, given the right supervision I believe could work.
Just for clarification if its not clear, you can drive your truck and boat to a different ramp and fish.
Yep RngerMac can tell of such tour.s they do that at santee cooper--I think IM right on this...gl to us all :)
That really ain't a bad idea Kyle......

Not everything that gets wet is pretty, but sometimes it gets pretty wet.
How about a tourney where anything you catch is worth points. I.E. Bass are 8/10pts. Bluegills 1 pt. Carp 1pt. over 24" 4pts. Catfish 4pts. etc. you get the idea.
The Cinti. Anglers Club have been doing this for over 30 years. Great fun and you would be surprised where these guy's can catch fish. All fish have a min. length to check in 7" Bluegill. 8" Crappie etc or the prevailing lake/river rules.
Dave.
Thanks for the ideas guys, keep'em coming. Looking for something a little different that would really catch the eye of folks and draw a decent crowd.Would be my first and and would like to really make it worth while maybe make it an annual event.
Yea I know on C-land or somewhere big like that it would be like pi$$in in the wind but every little bit makes a difference. I would be down for an event like that, and really if someone would take the time to work up the sponsors and stuff (i.e. conservation leagues, city of somerset, other meaningless civil organizations) you could probably get a HUGE PAYOUT kinda thing. I would be most def. interested in working on something like that if I had a group to work with. All the benefits of a huge $$$ tourney plus actually giving something back to the lake and surrounding communities, I'm tellin ya, it could be HUGE, I just dont have the time to organize right now.

Excellent idea indeed....
We have trailer tournaments. But, it is on the club level. I am not sure it would work for an open tournament. The reason we trailer is becuase of the weather mostly. When it is windy here in South Carolina there are only certain places you can launch and fish on 172,000 surface acres that make up Santee Cooper. The club meets at a local parking lot and pay entry. At 6:00 am we take off and go to the lake or the river and the weigh-in is at a pre determined spot. Since it is on the club level and the entry fee are pretty low it's more about fun and club points.

I'm not a tournament guy...but if I were, then Buzzkings idea sounds like a good one to me.
