Glad to hear you are feeling better!!! Fishing from the bank? What body of water? If you can tell... :P
Banditman,
Fished Lake Ellerslie here in Lex.. I had to walk the bank bacause my balance is still off from an inner ear infection. A boat would be risky!! Fished it for about 2 hours this morning. The two bass i caught were on a jig which they hit pretty hard. You know how it is when you want to feel that thump? Well they gave me my wish because they thumped slack into the line each time.
The one that got away was on a grub and when i hooked it i thought i was snagged on the bottom but it started moving and pulling drag and of course that was my clue! lol...Got it close enough to see it flopping around and figured it to be around the 4-lb mark.
The water color was perfect with a little stain to it. This rain pushes water through a culvert and the bass naturally congregate there so i try to hit it when we get rain. Man, it felt good to get out. :7
hey don,
my mom and dad's house backs up to that lake. i was thinking of getting on the waiting list. how long is it right now? how long did it take you to get in?
i'd love to get over there sometime and fish, but i know of the restrictions, visitor's pass, etc. If you ever need someone to go with, i'd love to check it out.

Nathan,
I was on the list for 6 years. I think they are up to 115 people or so right now.
No problem on taking in a fishing trip. Send me an email [email protected] so i have yours and i'll contact you the next time i want to get over there. Take care...
10-4 on that DJD. You have mail.
:-)
Hey Nathan. I'm on the list out there. I guess I've been waiting for 4-5 years. I started out at #106. Last June I was at #19. I'm just waiting for The Call. This is my understanding about how it all works. This may not be 100% accurate but here goes...
2 current members have to be references for you. You have to fill out some paperwork and turn it in for review. Once you have been approved you are then placed on The List (This is where I've been for several years). When you're up for membership you go through an informal interview process, pay a $500 fee to join and you're in. I think the annual fee is $150 or so. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.
You can take your immediate family out there but guests are limited. As a member, you are allowed to take Fayette Co. residents out there 5 times per year. Outside of Fayette Co. residents can go with you 5 times a year. In other words, you can take 10 guest fishing per year (I really hate this rule but it's the rule). Guests pay $10 per trip... Oh yeah, no night fishing too (I also really hate this rule but it's the rule).
Picnic benches and charcoal grills are on the grounds. Outdoor boat storage is also available for members (There might be an additional fee for this, not sure...???).
I have fished there several times with mixed results. My most memorable day was in late March several years ago. We got on a black/blue jig bite and hammered them. We caught about 25 LM and most were in the 2-3 pound range. I've caught a few walleye out there as well on crankbaits. Most were 16-18". IMO, the walleye stockings have had a negative impact on the bass population. There are lots of bluegill and crappie to be caught out there as well. This is the main reason I want to become a member. I look forward to making a 10 minute drive to the lake and catching fish with my son in a few years when he's older.
Nathan, on another note... You know where we need to go in March! I plan to make 3-4 trips up there this year. Call me and we'll jack some jaws!!!
Hait,
That's what I remember about the club membership. Steff and I are building a house down in Garrard Co. at the end of the year, so I guess I won't be getting on the list. Good news is I'll only be 20 minutes from Cedar.
On your other note...I stopped by our spot a week or so ago, and that little limb we tied onto is still poking up out of the water. I picked up one of those bush grippers at the store down the road, and tried it out. we'll be ready for sure.
here's the kicker, wasn't that water temp at around 46 when we had that day? at the rate we're going this winter, cedar's never going to fall below 47...LOL.
Nate
Nate,
You're not going to drive to Lexington for work are you? Call me and we'll catch up... Good call on the brush gripper. They come in handy, especially at CC. Let's go!
