    Everstart Batteries

Has anyone had much luck with the Everstart brand? I had one that didn't last much over a year and a half and ended up replacing it with a different brand.

I bought a boat a few weeks ago and it has three Everstart batteries...kind of curious if I'm going to have to replace them soon like I did with the last Everstart I had.

Anyone have an opinion on Everstart?
I feel like it's a cheap battery, but maybe I just had a bad experience.

I haven't had problems with the start batteries, but I won't by there trolling motor batteries anymore. They didn't last very long.

    RE: Everstart Batteries

Here is my take on them. I have been using Everstarts in my guide boat since I bought it...like yours mine came with them. I have had to replace the cranking battery twice in 8 years.

I replace the trolling motor batteries every spring. Twice I have had to replace an Everstart within 3 months after installing. I am on the water basically every day, all day, from the 1st of March thru the end of November. In other words I give them a workout.

The key on making any battery last is maintenance. The first thing I do when I back my boat into the driveway at the end of the day is to plug my charger in. I check the water levels once a week.

Now, are the Everstarts better batteries than Optimas or other higher priced brands...not likely...but they serve my purpose and I know that if I do have a problem wally world is close and I can have a new one real quick, for free, 24/7.

Note: I change them out every 12 months...they have an 18 month warranty...I haven't paid for a new trolling motor battery in 8 years.

I agree with you 100% Dave, I havent bought a battery in several years either. At least I know that if I have everstarts in my boat I will be alert to checking them more often because I know they arent going to last long. I get 1yr or less from each battery, but heck, they're free lol.

    RE: Everstart Batteries

I have to agree with Dave 110%. I have used Everstarts for as long as they have been out. Never once had a problem. Any problem that did occur were either a bad on-board charger or the loose wire at my alternator one time. Never the battery problem. I am thinking about installing bigger trays and going with the 31 series big batteries this year.
Which series batteries do you run Dave 24,27 or 31's?

    RE: Everstart Batteries

My boat came with Everstart Batteries and I've had them now for three seasons and they are still working as strong as ever...I keep them charged and ready to go with a trickle charger... Some fishermen saying they are ( Never Starts ) are just fishermen who had a bad experience with that type and think they are all like that....

Keep them charged properly and they will last....

    RE: Everstart Batteries

Carquest Gold Deep Cycle is my choice. I went thru the Bass Pro brand and an Interstate on my boat within a couple of years and never thought either did a good job. Bought the Carquest Gold last year and LOVE THEM. Fish 12-14 hours a day with no problem and no lost power. Pulled boards at Cumberland pretty much daylight to dark back in October 3 straight days in a row and never had any power loss at all. I agree with Dave in that I am religious in hooking up my charger the second I am back at the house or cabin and I don't check the water level weekly, but do check them periodically. Love them so much that I bought a Carquest Gold Cranking batter last winter when I needed a new one and have had no problems with it either.
