    RE: Everstart Batteries

I run the everstart 29 series and they have lasted three years,I agree with Dave it has alot to do with your maintenance of your batterys...read and learn to take care of them and they last a lttle better however deep cycle batteries do have a life expectancy and will start to taper off 100% recharges after x number of cycles.
It's funny when people start saying x brand is better than y brand most auto chains and dept.stores have their brand name put on a battery, subcontracted to a battery manufactuer, for example some(but not all) Everstart,Diehard,Optimas, motorcrafts, autozone's are all made by the same manufactuer....Johnson Controls :-)
Good site to learn about batterys....http://www.uuhome.de/william.darden/carfaq4.htm

    >This is DC, which means direct current. Think of your battery

Totally false. What comes out of the SNC and your AC charger is identical electrically and the charge level is the same.

    RE: Everstart Batteries

I'v tried just about every kind out there. The ever starts are the worst I have used.I guess if you can get them free they might be worth
it,if you don't mind replacing batterys often.I don't know what I'll try next? Right know and for the last 5or6 years I'v been using what I call a hospital battery. They are for emergencey lights. They have a 20 year shelf life. They are without a dout the best batt. I have ever seen!I have 3 of them and they have been put through it.Fishing trips, hunting trips, camping trips, partys you name it.I run the cheap painter lights with a 12volt bulb in them for all kinds of light uses.I looked them up on the net, they retail for 175.00$ but I got lucky and got mine from a truck driver for 30 bucks apeice.I think they are gell cell and they ARE sealed. If somebody would like I'll get the name. They can sure make good ones if they want to.GL

    RE: Everstart Batteries

Myself and several people I know have had bad experiences with "Never-Starts" and stick by my original comment. I will tell you that I am extremely religious in taking care of my equipment which includes maintaining the batteries and charging them as soon as I unhook the boat. Maybe, I got a couple bad batteries..... who knows but I will not be putting one back in my boat unless it is a last resort. I have had much better performance from other brands who also offer a warranty.

As for the comments on who makes Never-Starts.... you are correct. However, don't assume that just because they are made by the same manufacturer that the batteries are made the same. In most cases that is not true.

Made the same probably not everyone will have their own specs but most of it is on case designs, but I would still guess that the biggest killer of deep cycle batts. is poor maint. practices, myself I've had no problems with the everstarts,I did have one fail after about 2 1/2 yrs but with the pre-tourney meeting at a wally world I just had to walk in and get 2 new ones
