    Switch to New Discussion Board

I am not a moderator, nor connected with Fishin.com in any way except that I am a frequent user of the KY Discussion Board. I have been looking at the new board and I saw that Peter has moved part of this board to the new one so that we can begin to post on it. I also noticed that the old board shows that there were 4,874 threads and 25,547 posts to those threads. I find the new board to be very similar to this one with more options, use of an Avatar for instance.

Anyhow, I was thinking that if we are going to have a new board--it should be a totally new board and that Peter should not transfer the posts from this one to the new one. In other words, start a totally new board with all new posts and threads.

For people that want to search for informnation/posts on this existing board he could leave it up for veiwing, without posting, for a year or so and then delete this old board.

Just my thoughts, but I was wondering what other people think about this.

RE: Switch to New Discussion Board

Grumpy, I checked out the new board, and I like it too.

Avatars work on this version of the board too. (RedneckSR used Mr T, msgmills uses a toothy fish, etc.) BTW, Everyone needs to check out fisheater's avatar on the test board, it's priceless.

I respectfully disagree that the posts from this one shouldn't be transferred. There's just too many good threads that could be revived for updates and further discussion. The new board may have search capabilities that make it easier to sift thru the old stuff.

DH, I should have said, the ability to use an Avatar without having to have a URL or website first. On this board, I could never find a way to go to my computer alone and bring up an Avatar, everything I saw required a URL. No matter, I have one now on the new board.

I can't login. I know you have to re-set the password, but it's not letting me. I had an old email address in my profile which I went in and updated on the old board, but when I try to re-set for the new board it says it doesn't recognize the new email address.

Go to the very top of this page and click on the red link to send an email to Peter. Give him both email addresses and he should be able to help you.

I agree with DevilHorse. Having the old posts on the new board means that you can search on topics and pull up a lot of usefull info. I'm on a couple of other sites that use the vbulletin software. It can be usefull searching old posts for info that you know is there.

Unfortunately this can't happen. Upgrading versions of the same format will allow post transfer.

What can be done is that all threads could be archived to view only and leave this old board active.

But it's time for the new format. Change is good....

    Post Here--Not new board

Sorry,I was doing some testing on the new board and forgot to turn it off. Post here not the new board. You can post in any of the three forums that are listed on the new board. I encourage it.

Need to see if people have trouble loging on and using the board.

    Thanks.
