Crab Orchard/Rend Lake

My club has tournaments at both these lakes this year. I have never been near either one of them. Would appreciate any information that I can get. Don't want your honey holes (but I would take them), just some general information to get me started. Thanks in advance......

I went to SIU and fished both of these lakes quite a bit a while back and the best pattern I can tell you for Rend is forget the rocks and fish the grass. Rend is shallow too so be careful out there.
Crab is a good lake to fish the points but I have not been on crab for years. Rend I fish more often and like I said find the grass and fish it. The rocks look great and you would think you could catch every fish in the lake off of some of the rocks they look so good, but I would stick to the grass. Rend bass love grass.
